Sources: The NCAA Division I Council decided today that fall sport student-athletes can compete in any amount of competitions this year and it will not count as a season of eligibility. This still needs to be approved by NCAA Board of Governors on Friday.
I’m assuming this means MB would technically have 2 more years of eligibility even after playing this fall season, unless of course he goes pro prior to that.

I don't get it but it is what it is. Gonna mess up scholarship numbers and recruiting spots, meaning there's gonna be a ton of processing going on. Doesn't change much in regards to pro guys but seniors that arent real prospects are gonna return.

Family member who plays D1. Junior this year. He will almost have his masters all on scholarship.

This really screws HS seniors - where are they supposed to get scholarships?

Junior college finna eat. All those guys they have to do shady shite to get academically eligible are going to be SOL.

I believe the scholarship limit will be increased accordingly as well.

Still doesn't make sense. Obviously the conferences don't care about the NCAA so what's to say eligibility matters at all? If it's not an "official" season does that mean they can't enforce their rules? What about drug suspensions? Are they handled at the school level or a team vote? What about targeting? Can the leagues use discretion on suspensions? How can the NCAA regulate practice time if it's not "official"? Why do the Big 10 and PAC 12 need permission to practice this fall? Is it just the games themselves the NCAA has no jurisdiction over or isn't "official"? Not really that simple is it?

Von Rosenberg would be 31 playing in his final season

The NCAA can do the right thing and increase the scholarship limits.

Does this mean Von Rosenberg can play until he is 32? Bring him out in a wheelchair!

This just clears up the confusion for if there is a spring season and if some conferences play and some don’t. Everyone will be on the same playing field. Basically the 2020 college sports calendar doesn’t exist and everyone gets another year of eligibility to make up for it.

Too many variables to worry about. Lets see if any games are played any where rather than over think a lot of contingencies. Would expect normal rules to be in effect for any teams playing except for expanding scholarship limits for any players who get the extra year. Would expect 10 or less given attrition and those third and fourth ea players going to the NFL.

I know some programs are going to try to push through it (SEC obviously), but you might get 10 games in, you might get 2. We can hope, but we just don't know.

This just means that We will face Smith, Harris, and Moses again next year as the REC will extend their contracts.
