This is the solution. The extension is deserved at this point, but only if the buyout is reduced. Orgeron can earn the higher buyout by maximizing the potential in 2019.

Thanks for the info. I’ll make sure Tiger Ree gets this memo so he can discuss it in the staff meeting Monday morning.

Copied and pasted from a poster above me. I don’t want to be categorized with tiger ree for plagiarism.

Yea, that's not how it works.

besides, it is clear that this administration wants to treat him like a real coach, and not who the Rant thinks he is.

It just seems like Alleva hamstrings the athletic Dept by adding to the buyout with every extension, like he did with Les. Why can’t he extend a coach without saddling the school with more buyout money?

O could succeed or flop in 2019, nobody knows. What we do know is that this year is set up for great things with no excuses. If he goes 11-1 or better, there’d be no reason not to increase the buyout, but if it’s another 10-3 in what looks to be the best year in recent memory and you’ve already raised the buyout, things don’t look good at all.

He’s always been a real coach so I’m unsure what your point is.

If this happens O should fire his agent immediately and that agent would never have another client again.

I like O being extended. As long as Ensminger isn’t.

Orgeron is not yet deserving of any extension or raise. He made an a*s in 2017 with the OC debacle (he HIMSELF cost us the 10-win season as a result). Then the guy promoted Ensminger to OC and found a way to lose 3 games AGAIN. Thus far this Orgeron is no different than Les Miles. He coaches scared on offense just LIKE LES MILES, and he's about a 3-loss per season coach, pretty much LIKE LES MILES. This is going to turn out to be like the situation in Auburn. You bafoons that are for this extension are going to look mighty stupid after 2020 once a couple more 3-loss seasons are in the books.

Orgeron is the one who promoted Ensminger to OC. Why the hell would you like extending someone who would make such an idiotic decision to make Ensminger Dinosaur the OC of LSU!??

No one knows the future, j. Even if he gets an extension that wouldn't keep him from getting fired after the 2020 season IF your scenario occurs.

But why reward a guy NOW when he has not YET met expectations? 3-loss seasons at LSU aren't good enough.

An extension isn't necessarily an award if there isn't a big raise involved and it's just to serve recruiting purposes. However, I don't agree with a big raise after one good season.

Well, ok, that is reasonable, my good man, but I'm concerned Alleva's going to give him a big buyout YET AGAIN.

They think an extension somehow insulates O from being fired if he shits the bed. They're so dead set on O not getting anything positive that could be considered long term that their hate just shines on through.

If he doesn’t have an insane buyout, then the extension is cool, but some buyout extensions is coming
