LSU 2022 Fall Camp Day 1 | Brian Kelly press conference

First look at LSU's QBs, RBs at fall camp 2022

HOW EXCITED ARE THE QUARTERBACKS TO PLAY TO THEIR STRENGTHS NOW?

quote:

They’re all anxious to show what they can do. They want that opportunity, so they’ve all prepared really hard. They’re all in great shape. Their mental preparation is so much further a long now that they know the playbook. They’re all anxious to get out there and showcase what they can do. Today was much more of the basic tenants of footwork, across the field progressions, those kind of things and you can see they’re past that and ready to move to the next level.”

ON THE PURPOSE OF BRINGING IN A MENTAL TRAINER OVER THE SUMMER…

quote:

“Total preparation is based on physical preparation and we know what that means with the weight room and our nutritionists, but total preparation is what we’re here for. The technical and tactical are important when building a team, but the mental preparation is absolutely crucial as well. Having a mental performance coach, the brain is similar to a muscle in that you have to train it as well. Mental performance is an important piece in our preparation and we laid down the principles for this football team in helping them understand how important that is in their preparation. Now they have the tools to help them through things like confidence, things like emotional control, how they think on a day to day basis really matters and the mental performance coach that we have can be a great asset for us.”

ON DISTRIBUTING THE QUARTERBACK REPS…

quote:

“You’re not going to see much separation in the first seven days. That will take form as we get into down and distance situations. For example, these first two days are P and 10, meaning youre just dialing up every play that’s not even a down and distance play. The third day we start to get into some second down stuff, practice four and five you’ll see a bit more third down situations and when you get into that sixth day you’ll get into third down and long, which is where we can start to see some play calling that is going to be situated for the quarterbacks. It’s not going to be until the second week when we start to see some plays by the quarterback.”

What an amazing approach. It baffles me that for the past 17 years, we had bonafide morons on the sidelines, and somehow won 2 nattys and appeared in 3.

If you do the little things correctly with full effort/attention at practice, the game should come easy and you play your natural ability without thinking. Practice is the hard part.

Kelly is without a doubt winning a championship here in the next 3-4 years. Book it.

Thank you for this.

It’s awesome to finally have a great coach that can complete a sentence.

I was not aware of them hiring a mental trainer for these guys.

That is next level preparation. And honestly kudos to Scott & Tate for making these resources available for CBK.

The mental aspect of the game is very much overlooked because physical traits are the first to show on screen. But championships are 100% won between the ears.

Everybody always seems to be having a good time… until the Jew shows up.
