The Sec Tournament is just another money maker for the conference with attendance and TV rights. Plus it might help a team on the bubble get in with a Championship. Do you think Miss. St. gets in the NCAA Trny if they lose to Tennessee? I say yes and Auburn should be in too.

If I had to choose one or the other I'd rather win the conference tourney than the regular season. The conference tourney gives a team an automatic bid, winning the regular season (in and of itself) gives you the high seed in the tourney.

I would prefer the regular season championship. The regular season championship carries more prestige and meaning (and often higher ranking if different from the tourney champion). People are much more likely to remember who won the regular season championship than the tournament when the years have past. The tourney champ gets the automatic bid, but as we see often from tourneys around the country, the regular season champion often gets more recognition and higher seeding (if there is a split).
As has been noted, the tournament is for money and to increase the odds for more teams from the conference to get bids. If I can have only one or the other, I'd always take the regular season championship.

Ya know, technically they were right. The winner of the SEC is the one who wins the tournament.
FAIL

If that is at all true, then what trophy did I see presented to our beloved Tigers before the Kentucky game Friday? Did I dream it all?

I don't think ESPN hates LSU. I think its the whinny fans that if they don't get there way and ESPN is supposed to make them #1 in everything, that it seems like ESPN hates LSU. Just like EVERYTIME LSU loses its cause of the refs. SHAME!!!

The SEC recognizes the regular season champ as the conference champion.

Conference Tournament games are nothing but a second chance to prove to the NCAA they are worthy of a bid to the NCAA Championship tournament....
In most cases the Conference Champions don't bother... If they win, they win, if they don't, oh well, they get to rest before the big dance.
