Epic preparation failure by our coaches against State and Mizzou
We have one of, if not the highest paid staff in college football and this team was this woefully prepared against a mediocre State and Mizzou team. What happened to all of O’s off-season quotes that they had totally broken down and strategized each team multiple times...how, how does a coaching staff, coming off an NC and knowing the level of prep it took to win it, roll out this completely unprepared in two of the first three games?!?! I really hope Woodward laid into Orgeron because this lack of prep was completely inexcusable and needs to be a big strike against O...nearly as bad a negative as winning the NC was a positive last year for his record.

I know this, but damn what in the world happened?!?! It defies all logic and makes no sense. I don’t care what O has said or will say...this is concerning about his oversight of the program if he thought that was prepared...

It’s like they prepared for Stanford and not Leach

They over complicated things for the players and probably themselves. Simple as that.

We have good enough talent to at least be a top 15 team or so, just need to put them in position.

Coach O caught lightning in a bottle. What you saw at Ole Miss is the real coach O

Yes, the losses to MSU and Mizzou are inexcusable and disgusting. Coach O has exhausted the fanbase's goodwill from the epic NC more quickly than I could have imagined. At least we had 2019.

Since you asked:

1) We lost 14 starters to the NFL draft
2) We lost 1 starter (undrafted) to the NFL
3) We lost 3 starters to "opt out"

That is 18 of 22 starters gone. Most teams don't lose half that many. The bigger issue is that when team lose multiple starters (and to my knowledge no one has lost this many), they get their new players 'up to speed' in Spring, Summer and Fall practice. Most (or all) of these practices were cancelled or dramatically reduced bc of the Covid issue. There was no other team that faced the same:

A) dramatic change in personell and
B) had to endure the Covid issue restrictions.

When something like COVID-19 impacts preparation time and practice, you need to simplify your scheme and play to the strengths of your personnel.

I’d say man coverage is about as simple as it gets.
