#1 is no TO’s and I get that.. but #2 key to winning at AU is win TOP battle ? Really? I’m not saying that keeping a good opposing offense on the sideline isn’t good but making that a priority doesn’t tell me ya wants go 4-5 wide rpo tempo etc. The coaching staff has screamed high powered passing attack using ALL the wide receiver talent all off season. Ya think Clemson & Ohio state is focusing on winning top battle every week ?? Sounds like Les Miles offense to me and we don’t have Fournette!

Yeah... that’s a bit concerning.

We were 14th in the country in TOP last year, and had the second fewest giveaways in the country

And we weren’t good on offense.

TOP will take care of itself if you STAY AND THE FIELD. There are so many TV timeouts that you’re Defense will get enough time to catch their breath.

Sustain drives, score points

2016 Bama should have showed everyone O and Es mentality. High powered is not the word I would use

You have Les Miles’ TE coach calling plays. You expecting air raid?

Keeping the other team's offense off the field seems like a sound strategy to me.

You can still have solid TOP and run a good offense. Hitting those quick passes and screen game can be good for this team. Not every play has to be a 75 yard TD.

I would Rather score point and trust our defense than milk clock and pray for our defense.

Last week TOP: SLU 34:56, LSU 25:04.

SLU easily won TOP battle, and how did that work out for them? Shutout 31 point loss.

Long, conservative time-consuming drives mean squat if you can't put points on the board.

This has been the highlight of many a post since game 2. Offense needs to be on the field more. Now It is a problem?

I can say with absolute certainty that the top priority, and E didn't say this, but I think it's implied, is to score points.

In between priorities 1 & 2 has to be converting on 3rd down.

Priority #2 should be better OL play/pass protection.

That is Saban's big thing... 3rd downs. Convert them on offense. Stop them on defense.

Except it’s not implied because offense that play with TOP and TO margin in mind tend to be ball control offenses who’s priority is to control clock and field position.

It’s what we’ve done for years and it doesn’t lead to lots of points. It leads to low scoring games.

It’s like you’ve all been watching some other team.

Score points. Worry about moving the ball. TOP will take care of itself s

There are a lot of professions who suck at their jobs.

Half of the offenses out there are below averages

Yeah. Lots of coaches think that. But there aren’t really a lot of smart coaches. It’s like an echo chamber. The why is what is important. The score is the most important thing at the end of the game. It’s much better to score a touchdown in two seconds than to have a drive for 5 minutes and not score any points. Sure it would be better to have the ball for 5 minutes and score than to score in 2 seconds, but you usually don’t get to choose. Getting the points is most important!!!

For those of us who actually played the game in HS and a bit of college instead of playing fantasy football, the idea of keeping your offense on the field and theirs off the field as much as possible is a good strategy.

The Saints threw the ball all over the place. Look where that got them last Sunday.
