"As long as I feel like I can contribute to LSU, I'll be here. If I feel someone else can do it better, I'll walk away. That's just how it is."

I hope all coaches read/hear/see this. This is the epitome of supporting a program.

A lot of people gave this guy hell when O promoted him, I had faith he would step up. I am forever grateful to Steve Ensminger.

Well I think he will be staying for a while. He’s needed... never thought I’d say that.

I’ve always supported Ensminger. He is always taking one for the team.

He’s been a major piece to polishing Burrow. They worked hard on fundamentals all offseason.

He has made Joe Brady a lot of money. Brady will do great once he is on his own but Slinger’s experience is a perfect combination with the young coach.

If/when Brady bolts, we can only hope Coach E soaked it all in and can continue this offensive run on his own.

It's kinda shitty that you just assume that this was all Brady's doing.

I get the sense that Brady wants to soak in all that is LSU for the next several years for experience. That could be 6 or 8 years down the road. Need another assistant coach soaking it all in also, in case Coach E decides he's retiring then.

He’s not going anywhere soon. His title may change but he will be on this staff for foreseeable future

He took the OC job really as a favor to O and LSU. I think he’d be more than happy to give most of that burden/work to Brady while continuing to contribute to the staff (and collecting a nice salary to do it)

He deserves immense credit and respect for having the self awareness to want to better himself in his profession. It’s an incredibly rare trait in his and many other professions.

But what you and many others fail to understand is that criticism of the man’s job performance does not equate to criticism of the man. He did not perform well in 2018 relative to our goals against our best opponents. He had not previously shown a penchant to want to do anything other than what he had done before, which yielded consistent results that did not meet expectations.

That isn’t shitting on someone. That’s a frank assessment of the man’s job performance at LSU as OC before this year. Were and are there more colorful assessments? Yep. Life ain’t fair and when you choose a profession that puts your performance on front street you better be prepared to handle it. Which he obviously is and he is obviously also well compensated for it.

But find me one post who said the guy was a poor husband, father, son, brother or friend? Find me a single post that says he’s a poor tipper or treats kids and animals badly?

You won’t. You won’t because that didn’t happen. If someone said it, it’s totally BS and joking of course.

The issue here is that you can’t separate the man from the job, or his performance in it. No one doubts Ensminger loves LSU. Nor that he wants to be successful at his job. A great many people had doubts about whether he had the ability to change from a mindset that preferred 8 man protections and 2-man routes in pro formation looks.

He obviously did and the praise that has come his way is richly deserved.

But please...apply some critical thinking to what you’re saying and how you look at things. If you can’t separate a man from his job, or understand that an judgement of a man’s work product is not a judgement of a man’s value then you are probably unable to contribute meaningfully to discussions like this...and should probably try to back away until you can.

Agreed. I hope he’s around this program for a while longer. I really don’t care in what capacity. If he wants to be here, find him a position.

I’ve always liked Coach E. He deserves almost as much praise for this year as Coach O; however, he gets very little credit nationally. If money was no matter, which coaching position would you rather?

Doesn’t Brady have a guy that sits next to him in the booth that’s charting plays and taking notes? I can’t remember his name, but know he’s been talked about on here before. Maybe he can be Brady’s sidekick if/when he’s promoted to OC and SE leaves...?
