I realize that apparently, this isn't the accepted wisdom tonight.

But, sorry. Even as a person who STILL can't figure out why we hired him, that was a very well called game.

People should not confuse "didn't work" with "bad call".

AU defense is legit. If they hadn't been kept off balance, no matter how improved our OL was today, they'd have started getting to Burrow.

Yet. They basically were controlled all game. That didn't happen by accident.

The only call I was really frustrated was with the QB designed runs.

He used the middle of the field more than we ever did under Miles.

need to utilize size with FADES AND SEAMS AND BACK SHOULDERS

IF E WILL DO THAT it will help greatly

need more hitches and circle routes also. coulda used those on two point play..plenty more we could add to make us that much tougher to defend

two point conversion was bad playcall. no low reads all high. an out or RB direct snap woulda been better or a hitch or RB circle route over middle which was open. need to have guys at all levels. ev eryone was too deep in EZ

Qb keep on 3rd down was bad call. great 4th down tho

I loved that we threw vertically when we got 1 on 1's. Wasn't perfect, but was definitely an improvement.

Hats off to ensminger. I wanted to break the tv with all the burrow designed runs but other than that I have no complaints

eh, my theory (theory only) is that it was a way to keep the LBs and S's attention in places other than 7yd back in the middle of the field.

Haven't done it yet- but as soon as the excitement wears off I want to look at drive charts and see if after every (or most) runs there was a pass between the hashes.

I know JB's completion % isn't great but when was the last time we had 34 attempts and 249 yards?

We did use the middle too much but E did very well, IMO. AU has a lethal defense

Three complaints with coach E. #1. Play calling conservative when in a lead. #2. The defense was giving you short to medium keep taken what the defense gives you. Change up your running formations. there are two formation that runs you know it’s a run every time and aurburn knew who was getting it and which hole was running in.

Only question I have is does he have anything left going forward or did we empty the clip to get this win?

Unlike bullets, you can reuse plays

He doesn't have to have any more up his sleeve, no OC does.

It's a matter of timing- calling the same plays as you've practiced, at the right time... to attack the right thing.

The trick isn't inventing new stuff, it's each and every week identifying what/who to attack. And then changing it. No plan survives first contact.

Do I have worries that he lacks the ability to do that and instead lurches into a Milesesque of "this worked last time, it will work again"? Yes.

It was an awesome game. Comparing LSU and Auburn offensive play calling, it looked like Auburn was more creative then us. Auburn shot themselves with penalties at the worst times. I really was surprised the refs made some of those calls against Auburn. We looked like we couldn't figure out their offense but eventually we were able to stop them. I still don't think Ensminger is a great play caller, sorry to be a Debbie-Downer for you.

I agree, it was a good offensive game plan and most of the calls were good.

I didn't mind some of the runs with Burrow - the only one that was really bad was the second one in a row on the final drive.

Agree...those designed runs were stupid...especially the 2nd one in a row at the end of the game on 3rd down.

Couple of those runs were actually great calls and could've been 10+ yard gains if it was wasn't for a whiffed block. The blocking matchups were there. But also some were shite calls.
