It flat out burns knowing Emmitt Williams is just sitting around not playing basketball this year. he could be a key piece for LSU this year and improving his draft stock. He would add a high motor, depth, leadership, experience, rebounding, added offensive low post threat. Basically everything we need for this team to be special.

Was pretty obvious he had no chance at the league

I’m pretty sure there were people telling him his NBA stock wasn’t that high.

I just don’t get why these guys act like playing college athletics (many sports) is so beneath them. If you love to play the game, playing at a major college program is a pretty sweet gig.

Any idea what he’s doing? Is he working some sort of job?

That’s fine, but this seems to be a recurring problem at LSU. For the most part everyone knows who is making it and who isn’t it seems except the kids and whoever is advising them.

Same. College is the best time of your life...and these dudes get to avoid most of the financial aspect, get extra help in the classroom, get to be treated like royalty around town, and get to travel around the country playing a fun sport in front of fans. You literally have one shot at it in your life.

Although having a kid while in college/ before you have your life is settled sets basically everyone way back in life. Just sad and dumb because it’s so easily prevented

Hopefully he can find a spot overseas or have a decent life coaching somewhere

Ruining your future for a baby is ridiculous. A baby has very little needs. Food and shelter. That’s it. Down the road is when the child will need you to make money.

Extremely short sighted to potentially mess up you future because your girl got knocked up.

He was told by every evaluator that he would not be drafted. The staff had to go down and beg him to come back in 19. The man didn’t want to play anymore

For him to improve his draft stock, he’d have to grow a few inches, hard to be a 6’7ish PF in the NBA. There are exceptions, sadly not him.

It’d be great to have him this year, he could have limited Castleton today on rebounds and points.

He could have a good career over seas.

Pretty sure he knew he wasn’t going to play in the NBA, but wanted to play overseas to make money and support his kid. COVID really screwed up his plans I’m sure though

I think he had a really good shot of going early second with the whole Houston experiment with PJ tucker at center, but then that blew up in the playoffs and people just completely ditched that stray. He was the perfect small ball 5 mold.

It’s even harder when you’re 6-5

Most coaching positions, even high school/junior high school, require a college degree

I’m pretty sure him and Days were listed at 6’10 in high school, like wtf. Our height issue would be solved if that was the case, and they’d both be in the NBA.

And yes both are 6’5-6’7 give or take their shoes.

Oh no neither was listed at over 6-7 or maybe even 6-6 coming from HS. You must be thinking of Naz Reid. Emmitt was really an odd duck as a 5* recruit who was a 4 year college player. He didn’t have the foot speed to guard pro 3s or the size to guard pro 4s. His best chance would’ve been to continuously improve his skill and lateral quickness so he could’ve been a niche matchup player at the next level. We really do miss him and he made a poor judgment call in leaving after only 2 seasons at LSU.

I think many sites have been updated, but they were definitely listed over their actual height. Maybe I was thinking they were both listed at 6’8 which is a good height for their positions.

Like max preps having him at 6’8, Days at 6’7. Sites that haven’t been updated.

Naz was a true 6’9-6’10, he made them look so small a few years ago.

Fingers crossed Days stays for his senior year, he could be like a Admiral Schofield from Tennessee a couple years ago.
