Say what you want about the man, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion about the hire, but he clearly is passionate about the opportunity to coach here. I particularly liked his comment on recruiting.

i think it's safe to assume he's improved under saban. Saban has also said Steele is one of the best teachers of fundamentals and technique he's ever seen.

all those missed tackles and players out of position.

The converse shoes in the back ground are just as nice as Emily.

He looks very excited about the opportunity. I couldn't help but notice how much like Saban he sounds in his demeanour. He really enjoys recruiting and is supposedly very good at teaching technique.

Let's run down a list of less successful or "who the hell are you" type guys who ended up at LSU to coach and became much more successful in their career:

Nick Saban
Jimbo Fisher
Will Muschamp
Kirby Smart
Les Miles
Bo Pelini

LSU has made a lot of coaches. You could argue Chavis, Wilson, and Raymond to be on that list as well.

He seems genuinely grateful.

I'm past being unhappy about the hire and wish the man well.

And that will help us a lot. I've heard he was heavily involved in gameplanning at Alabama, so hopefully he picked up on some stuff over there that will make him a better coach, in addition to being around a defensive staff that knows what they are doing here as well.
