I know it’s a blow to our defense but how much of a drop off to overall defense with players like Thornton, Anothy, and Divinity in leu of Chaisson? Trying to make myself feel better about rest of schedule without Chaisson....think we will be able to point back at a loss and say “if we had Chaisson, we win”?.

Chassion is an awesome player. With that said he won’t be the difference between a loss and win. The talent drop off isn’t THAT big of a deal. Divinity just needs to step up along with others. I would consider dropping Stevens down into a hybrid OLB.

As long as we have two guys that can excel when they are fresh, we should be fine, but make no mistake, no one taking over for him can set the edge and get the QB the way that Chaisson can

Saw him standing next to Queen and thought the same thing. That is a big arse dude, especially for a DB

Obviously, aranda thought he was the best we have... but I think Anthony will be pretty serviceable. I think some serious reps will let Anthony make some big strides. He's been sidelined with injuries most of career

Losing Chaisson hurts but I think we can absorb losing him ok.

We won't be quite as good but We'll be fine. I just hate it for him.

I was more worried about Ingram. Only losing him for 2-3 weeks is great news

Chaisson is special because he was speedy AF on the edge. Also, there was a play when Rosier ran and he chased him down like he was fired out of a cannon. But then he completely whiffed on the tackle. I trust Aranda to scheme around the loss of Chaisson.

Not only is KLC a huge talent (best combo of smart and athleticism according to Dave Aranda), but it cuts into the depth. He is our best "disruptor" as they say, so that hurts more than anything.

Add Ingram and Tyler Taylor, and that's a lot of talent that was expected to contribute.

That injury looked terrible when it happened.

Losing him is huge. LSU doesn't have another guy that can do what he does.

Aranda can scheme around it and make his defense work but Chaisson forced offenses to account for him on every play.

I like how fast Chaisson was playing this season, taking off at the line with no fooling around and going get the QB, also, playing the run well too. Whoever replaces him will have to bring the same intenisty although I don't know if they'll be able to match his drive. He looked to be on a All American mission this season, such bad luck to with the game almost being over, that's why you probably pull starters and let 2nd team players take over.

Massively missed. No one replaces what he brought to the game.

It’s hard to objectively say loosing Chaisson will effect LSU in the W/L column. I think, in his career he had 27 tackles and 2 sacks with his limited playing time as a freshman and within the Miami game. Granted he has amazing talent and was poised for a break out season but you can’t definitively say losing him hurts the defense because there is limited basis. I think we have enough talent at OLB for his loss not to be a grievous blow to our D. FYI, Divinity had a better game against Miami and made more of an impact. That’s no slight against Chaisson but an emphasis that we have quality players at that position ready to set an edge, play great run D, and rush a passer. Inserting a new player or having a healthy Chaisson could have the same effect on the season, there is no way to make a accurate assertion.

Having said that, do I think Miami avoided Chaisson? Yes. Do I think teams will test the next man up? Yes. Do I think the next man up will hold the mantle? Absolutely!

Edit: Better this happens now than later in November. We have time to establish a new OLB and fortify his strength in our defense. No kinks in this chain, we have quality depth.

Oh, no doubt LSU was going undefeated until the injury. Now we’re looking at 9-3.
