Those guys are doing a great job, but if we win out O will get it. He slayed the Alabama dragon, will easily have made it through the toughest schedule, he’s a household name and face, and a lot of CFB fans don’t even know those names. That matters in these awards.

The guy I would think has the best shot to challenge O would be Ryan Day imo. The Urban Meyer saga was well documented, and stepping into those shoes and actually improving on what was already a great season for them last year is impressive.

He also has a Heisman QB (a transfer doing this in year 1) AND defensive player of his own which matters. These awards circuits are important and both O and Day will be making the rounds for all the voters to constantly see.

But I agree O is the clear front runner and man to beat.

PJ Fleck hasn’t beaten Texas, Florida, Auburn and Bama all in the top 10 when played. We’ll see what Fleck has when he faces someone better than Pennstate.

PF lives/works nearby. Rarely cross paths with him though. Last was just after Texas. Gave him a Geaux Tigahs. Expected that smarmy wait4bama smirk. Not the case. He was surprisingly (at least surprising to me) high on LSU, even then.

I agree, but Minn hadnt played anyone. LSU has a tougher schedule, has beaten bama, and beating everyone badly. The transformation of offense in, what appears to everyone as one season, is the huge storyline. (joe brady hire, etc.)

I get your point, but based on the buzz, I think O walks away with it. Season isnt over, but I think its a lock.

Hold on there cowboy.

One year does not qualify as top 5 pay. Consistency is critical.
He has a 22year old veteran heisman qb this year.
That can do wonders for a coach.

Next year will tell us a lot

Pj fleck beat some cupcakes and lost to a cupcake. So I guess that accounts for something. Matt ruhl beat every team for 4 or less points and laid an egg vs Oklahoma in second half. Accounts for something I guess

I think your opinions about coach rankings have become null and void.

Taking a program that was in the gutter in the aftermath of being left with a cesspool to clean up and started 9-0 before losing to OU. But I think that it will be hard to not give it to O if he finishes 12-0. And no way if he finishes 13-0. He would have taken out Texas, Florida, Auburn, Bama, Georgia and turned an offense around by hiring the right people and convincing a Heisman Trophy talent to transfer on a promise to change the offense.
