Orgeron says it's a toss-up at quarterback and it's going down to the wire. Gives Brennan credit for doing well in 2020 before injury. Points out Johnson is the only guy who is 2-0.

quote:

Ed Orgeron again says Jack Bech will primarily play tight end

quote:

Fun fact: Austin Deculus' mother fed Ed Orgeron buffalo meat gumbo.

quote:

Ed Orgeron speaking to the Baton Rouge rotary club and makes this joke about NIL:

"We're paying players now. Name, Image and Likeness. So if you guys wanna start paying our players, you can go ahead!" #LSU

quote:

Orgeron going back to a similar sentiment, wanting to recreate Joe Brady's offense from 2019:

"I don't think I can bring Joe back, but I can bring the offense back." #LSU

quote:

Orgeron shouts out Maason Smith and Bryce Langston as two freshman defensive linemen who could make waves right away.

Smith was the star of spring, but have heard good things about Langston this summer

quote:

Orgeron asked who will make the most money.

"I think it's good ... as long as it's handled in the right way. I think there's going to be some disappointment. They're going to learn what taxes are. They'll realize they're not gonna get paid as much as they think they oughta."

"I just don't want it to affect the locker room."

Told the team he's for it, but they came here to go to school and play football games. Most important is to focus on that.

"But if that becomes your sole purpose, you're headed in the wrong direction." #LSU

Orgeron admits safety *was* a concern, but between Jay Ward, the newcomers Sage Ryan and Derrick Davis and Georgia transfer Major Burns, "we're going to be very strong back there."

Said Burns could be in line to start. #LSU

quote:

Orgeron asked about businesses creating an internship for players for NIL purposes:

"Do it. I'm serious. As many of you want to give our players money legally, do it. We would like that done. Other schools are doing it--and bragging about it."

From Shea Dixon

quote:

Ed Orgeron said Georgia transfer Major Burns has the best chance of any of the newcomers to start at the safety spot.

"We turned a weakness into a strength" after signing Burns on top of Sage Ryan, Matthew Langlois and Derek Davis Jr.

quote:

With #LSU needing help at TE, Ed Orgeron added an update from the signing class.

St. Thomas More's Jack Bech, the state's most productive WR the past two seasons, has already added weight and will play TE for the Tigers.

Bech certainly gives the position a proven pass-catcher.

Ryan Clark loves him. Last kid i heard him go to bat for like this was Kelvin Joseph during his Fr year at LSU. No one really thought he was a thing at that point. He had a few rough patches that year

This is one the things that I'm most excited to see. He should be a matchup nightmare.

Strong work Lester thanks for keeping us updated, curious to see how Bech looks at TE. Any word on Marcus Dumervil at OT? If anyone has info on him I’d appreciate it, he was pretty highly rated coming in

If O can bring the offense back, perhaps he shouldn’t have let it get away in the first place?

On the oline he said:

- he expects Wire to do well at LT.
- Look out for Dellenger and Bradford. Expects them to play snaps this year behind the starters.
- Bradford may have the most talent on the oline. Still needs to lose weight but is in the best shape he's been in since coming here.

Safety comments are interesting. I wonder if we see Toles transfer soon. Sounds like O is higher on the newcomers.

The fact that O has not named Brennan the QB already tells you what you need to know in my opinion...

O doing a great job slow playing the QB race. If he takes it down to 2 weeks before kickoff MB will be here for a full season as the backup. If he called it before fall camp, Myles potentially transfers. god forbid max got hurt in fall camp, we’d be left with Nuss and walk ons. Smart move
