Dylan Crews hung around Alex Box until ~11pm last night…

taking pictures and interacting with roughly 30 to 40 special needs children and their families. He got all of them on the field. And made time for each and every one of them. They were able to feel the turf, walk on the dirt, and for 30 mins or so get to experience something that they will probably never get to experience ever again. Then him and Jobert took a large group pic with everyone. Dude gets it. Him and his family are as good as it gets. When Dylan moves on to bigger and better things, LSU will be losing a big bat in the line up and the Baton Rouge special needs community will have a large void to fill as well.

That’s awesome! What a great young man.

Wished I could have seen that. Thanks for the message, Mr. Crews sounds like a standup guy.

There’s no prima donna in him that’s for sure. Great kid

I don't pretend to know what kind of player he will be in the future. But I feel comfortable saying that if he has a multi-year MLB career, he will be a Roberto Clemente nominee at some point.

I have seen some of his work in the community. He is first class.

Obviously a great baseball player with an even bigger heart.

He seems so unassuming for a superstar and mature beyond his years. Happy we're going to have one more year of him. Say what you will about this season, but we've got some high character guys on this team.
I liked the little plug they did on Veitmeier last night as well. Dude likely won't ever go pro, but he busts his arse and puts the team first.
ETA: Here is the excerpt for Crews getting Community Service Team. Good stuff.

Dylan Crews works with Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge, a non-profit resource center organized and directed by family members of individuals with disabilities; the organization supports families whose members have physical, cognitive, mental, emotional, or behavioral disabilities. Crews is involved with Team of Dreams in Gonzales, La., which is an all-Abilities baseball league serving the youth and young adults who use wheelchairs, persons with physical disabilities, or persons with intellectual disabilities. Crews and his family purchase four seats for every home LSU Baseball game and give the tickets to families with special needs children. He signs autographs and takes pictures with the kids in right field before every home game. One of the children that Crews has befriended is eight-year-old Aubrey White, who has non-verbal autism and suffers from seizures. The first time her parents ever heard Aubrey speak was while they were watching an LSU baseball game on TV last year. When Crews stepped up to the plate, Aubrey cheered, “Dylan Crews!” After meeting Aubrey, Crews wanted more kids with special needs to have the opportunity to come to a baseball game, so he and his family began purchasing the tickets for the kids and their families.

I don't know how well remembered this is, but Viet came in to LSU needing Thoracic Outlet Syndrome surgery. It's moderately common among pitchers, but there is usually a long recovery time before guys get back to what they were before they had it.
He had it either in the summer before or the fall of his freshman year and was on the mound as a freshman getting weekend in.ause
He's just a horse and has put a ton of work in here and hopefully is remembered fondly by the fanbase. One of my favorite recent players and I still maintain that he looks like he'd stab a guy in a bar fight.

I'm happy as a fan to say I'm ecstatic to have the opportunity to cheer for Dylan for another year as a player as well as a person. One of the few times that a player is as great of a person as he is a ballplayer and that's saying a lot. Great reflection on his family they should be very proud!!!

100%. He's on my "LSU Baseball All Bar-Fight Team." Give me him, Russell Reynolds, and Travinsky and I'd probably fight just about anybody
And by fight I mean hang back and let them do all the work..

Can I have one pic of him without the mustache?

There is a nice kid/young man, in a wheel chair for lots of home games right by the batters box. Dylan always comes over and gives him a fist bump before his first at bat. Nobody really notices and he does it in a way that you wouldn't notice unless you just happen to be watching Dylan. It is obvious to me that he just wants to make that young man feel special.

My kids hung around after a game earlier in the year and i will vouch that Crews is a classy guy. As was the rest of the team. It was a long game, i know they were tired and hungry and they still hung around to sign autographs and take pictures with a mob of kids. Tre Morgan was especially nice with the kids. Pretty cool to see it and easy to pull for guys like that.
