Do y’all understand that as long as LSU wants coach O. Coach O will want LSU. The guy loves this place and will coach here untill he is fired no questions asked. Wake up people.

They have these things called AGENTS, and they make sure their coaches are paid market value to say the least...

That was another one of his selling points right? He "wants" to be here. "dream job" and all that.

His point is everyone is jumping up and down after an impressive win against Georgia screaming "extension!" and "pay raise!". We need to finish this season and see how things geaux. If we dont go to the SECCG, I would give it one more year before I extended him. He wants to be here, no one is trying to hire him at this time. We can extend him when the time comes, but it is not here yet.

He wins, he gets paid/extension. Simple as that. One great season (11-1 regular season) he gets extension. One good season (10-2 or 9-3) we ride it out until the end of next season.

I think just like in 90% of the team sport topics on this board that this board does not quite understand the concept of extensions. The whole why you give em and why you don't. But this isn't news, just read another 90 threads and you'll see consistency.

So why don't you grace us all with your elucidation of the fascinating and mysterious world of contract extensions.

The main problem is recruiting. Kids want to know if he will be there for 4 years, and the other sec coaches will use that against lsu.

so, to recap, LSU fans that WANT coach O to stay should NOT want him to receive an extension?

This is a myth. Miles brought in the #5 class in the country in 2015 - a season where he was supposed to be fired and had essentially no job security whatsoever for the next 4 years.

There are extremists on both sides. Everything he did this offseason was terrible, according to some people. On the opposite side people want to extend him for winning a few games. Both sides are wrong.

Isn’t he in the middle of his second year of a 5 year deal? No need to extend him now. Let’s see how the season ends and how he does next year then you can talk about it.

If he goes 10-2 I think they can discuss an extension. I only say that because of the optics of an expiring deal when recruiting players - even if he succeeds and is extended they have got to come up with a contract that doesn't have LSU over a barrel if things go wrong.

Play ball, all of that will take care of itself when the time is right.
