Don't laugh, but Chizik was one hell of a DC and could help turn around our defense

I know the usual clowns will have their stupid responses and jokes, but if LSU is looking for a veteran, successful DC after this season, I would look at Chizik. I'm not saying hiring him as a potential HC, but his resume as a DC is pretty impressive. At Auburn as DC, he had one of the top defenses in the country and won the Broyles Award as the top assistant in the country.
At Texas, he was an outstanding DC and was a key in the Longhorns winning a NC. After he was fired as Auburn HC, he was hired at NC and brought them back to respectability and left after two years because of a family situation. He took the Tar Heels from 120th to 63rd in the country in two years. Pretty impressive when you consider it's NC football. Apparently, he was living in NC and the rest of the family was living in another state.
ESPN just announced layoffs, so this might be a prime time to gauge his interest in possibly returning to college football. He knows the SEC and knows how to recruit the southeast. Not many coaches can also say they won the national championship as a HC and a DC.
I think LSU should at least take a serious look at Chizik and see if he would be a good fit for the program because he has a history of having great defenses and a history of turning around bad defenses.

We have our DC and he isn't going anywhere.

Do you really think Pelini is the answer?

Chiz, pelini, and Muschamp are from another era. We need younger guys who understand modern offense.

Agreed. If we do end up replacing him, I want the dude from Cincy. However two issues with him that would guarantee O wouldn’t go after him: 1) no relation to his coaching tree/network . 2) he’d be gone within 2 years with a HC offer.

I think cincys dc takes over as hc when fickell leaves. That's why he turned down Michigan state

Then the jokes on the SEC Rant would start - Do ya'll really need two Gene Chiziks on the staff?

No. I want someone who grew up with today’s modern offenses.

This is why I love Tigerdroppings. Everyone was all happy about Pelini during the offseason. They rightfully are pissed about him now but the candidates I consistently see are people like Chizik and Muschamp--glorified Pelinis who haven't spent more than a year coordinating in over a decade.
He was bad at UNC in 2015. There are so many coordinators today we can go after before we entertain these retreads.

Why don't we go for a guy who has actually coached defense in the last 3 years? I don't understand why people keep wanting guys who've been a head coach doing HC duties for 5+ or guys who haven't coached in 5+ years to be our DC.
Oh and don't use this year to determine defenses unless they have just been wildly off like Pelini's.

You do know that at one time everything you’re saying about chizik is also true about Bo? What makes you so sure he’d be better?

If we are hiring Chizik back, might as well hire Coach Jones as an assistant basketball coach while we're at it.

Chizik was not a better coordinator than Pelini. We need someone who understands a modern offense.

That's a valid reason, but I'm just saying Chizik has a proven record as a DC and appears to know what he's talking about when he dissects offenses/defenses on the SEC Network. Unlike Pelini, I think Chizik would be open to making changes that suit our players best. Pelini thinks his way is the best way and refuses to adjust to the times and we've been paying the price as a result. The problem with hiring an upcoming DC is he won't be there but a couple of years, but Chizik is at a point in his career where he's looking for a long term gig.
