My dog usually show a marked increase in their water intake, along with an accompanying increase in urination. he frequently have excellent appetites, yet are losing weight. I think it maybe is diabetic. Someone can give me advice on the dog food for diabetic dogs

First wrong board. Second, get him checked out with a vet before you go changing his food. He might have an endocrine disorder but it's better to be sure.

My dog just went through a spell of not eating as much as usual and was a bit lethargic. My vet put him on steroids because she thought it was just allergies since it's that time of year. Is the dog scratching or licking more than normal?

a one year old dog with diabetic issues sounds wrong to me. if you love that dog man, see a good vet. it will cost some coin to run tests but you shouldn't have a dog if you can't afford to care for them.

my dog has been showing signs of depression and has zero appetite over this entire Guice issue, I finally had to turn off the draft and take the remote from him

Here's hoping your dog is ok, Dave. They become part of the family and it's very stressful when then become ill. Prayers for the pup

I’m a vet and that is odd behavior for a 1 year old dog. Definitely need good exam and some lab work. Diet is not going to change a thing with those symptoms. Diabetic dogs, if the diagnosis, must receive insulin injections lifelong. Good luck.

Ahh ... Steven, I knew I liked you for a reason. A fellow dog lover. I'm actually glad this thread got started here. It's good to see someone taking care of the dog. I can't stand when people don't bring in their animals for check ups and keep up with their shots and flea meds. It's damn near criminal.

To make this thread eligible to stay on the Tiger Rant, here is a photo of your dog, right?

Parvo maybe? I had a Rott that had it. Same signs and usually happens in their 1st year. It can be very serious if you wait too long.

Is this a thread about how Joe Alleva is pissing all over our athletic program?

Step 1- see vet
Step 2- follow advice of vet
Step 3- do not follow Ranters advice (except mine, because I’m always exceptional )

I took him to the vet , the vet concluded that he had a first - stage diabetes , the vet gave me some advice about the food he needed. The situation seems to be good and he's getting better. I' d like to share some advice for someone need when your dog is diabetic

I would go to a vet asap. I had a dog that this happened to and found out he had cancer. Went from 80lbs to 40 in 2 months
