Does Wade run some type of hybrid switching defense against UF tonight?

What I mean by hybrid is Efton stays in front of Castleton at all times and the remaining four guys switch as usual.

I heard during WW press conference that Efton got himself into foul trouble when he was either helping another teammate on defense or getting switched to a smaller and quicker offensive player. It's going to be interesting to see if WW draws up something a little different on defense tonight for Efton to try and limit the early and unnecessary fouls.

Yeah. Because the number 1 defense in the country needs to change.

Hasn't really done it all year.

When I brought up that Reid was the only player to not fit in with the style of defense we play, and it was leading to his man screening to create mismatches I got downvoted into oblivion by the idiots here. Now that Wade said it himself, maybe they will believe me.

Not completely change but have to continue to tweak the defense as the season goes on. When there is something you are doing that is forcing your big man into foul trouble you have to find a way to not do that anymore.

Guys I believe the OP was asking this more with the thought of X being out tonight. Not asking if we are gonna change it up just for the heck of it...

We need to quit switching the center/guard screen. That’s the only situation that’s caused us problems this season.

Guard play tonight will be primary interest for obvious reasons. I'm just wondering if defensive strategy is tweaked to keep Efton in the game a little longer to help keep Castleton at bay. IMO Castleton is the key to a UF victory. We have to keep him off the boards especially on the offensive end for second chance points.

So far in SEC play you can tell Efton has been intimidated by playing against other big men. He has excellent moves and footwork for a freshman, but he has to get tougher inside. Once he decides to not back down from other big men and play with confidence he will be hard to stop inside on offense and defense.

Efton is a work in progress. He’s young and learning. I like that Wade is working with him a lot post game, critiquing both good and bad. Efton is getting better but it’s hard to notice because of the fouls. This will improve over time but we may not see results until late season. Really not s bad time to notice. I would like to see Colbert and Eziwiro get some pt and Shareef as well. I’m curious to see what he’s got to offer. Haven’t really seen much during his time here due to the recurring injuries but we’ve got a ton of bigs to work with. Don’t forget Fudge; he may be a big contributor tonight. Boot Up!

I sure hope he doesn't do a gameplan that only matters for 7-8 minutes

LSU is on pace to have one the historically best defenses in the history of the KenPom ratings (dating back to 2002). So I doubt they are going to significantly change their approach unless and until Florida forces them to. If anything, you could see O'Neal make his season debut.

Last year LSU was left with Days guarding Casleton most of the second half. That was a mismatch. Wade said he was likely going to play Josh Gray in the second meeting which was ultimately never scheduled after being postponed.

It really wasn't a big issue until the Tennessee game. But it is also worth noting Tennessee's PG is a top 10 recruit who will likely be drafted in the first round this summer.

Tennessee did most of their damage from the free throw line, I think our D was fine other than maybe getting caught reaching in a bit more than usual.

The Vol guard was good but we did also turn him over 6 times.....hell we turned Auburn over 21 times we just could not score.
