Does this baseball team compete with the 2013 team

For the best record of all time which was 57-11? I'll go with yes!

They will be good but I’m gonna need to see them play before I put them with the 2013 team. That lineup was scary good. Freshman Bergman and Laird, Kats, Rhymes, Jacoby Jones, Christian Ibarra, and Andrew Stevenson. I think the pitching will be deeper on this team. Nola was a stud of course but they didn’t have much pitching depth on that team.

A lot of talent for sure, but think they will need a little time to gel...
I’ll go with 15 losses max

If the arms stay healthy (not counting on Labas or Storz at this point), it will be a very, very dangerous team.
The lineup is going to be formidable top to bottom. If we have a reliable third starter then our pen is full of power arms at the end of the game.

I would be disappointed if they lost a game *sarcasm*

Like every other baseball season, this Tiger squad will be the best of all time until they lose their first mid-week game. Then they will be overrated, CPM will need to go, the sky will fall, and the apocalypse will commence.
...then we win the weekend series and we are good again.
Realistically though, I haven't been this excited about LSU baseball and the potential of a team in a long time. All the pieces are in place for a special run. Just praying those pieces stay healthy.

The pitching staff could be very, very good. What does everyone think the lineup will look like?

Someone give me a projected batting order
quote:
I like Smith at 3b and Hal at SS with either Broussard or Bianco at 2b whoever can hit better.
Don't be shocked if Dugas finds his way into the starting lineup somewhere. He will be hard to keep on the bench.

It's hard to find much negative to say about this year's squad. But how concerned are you that we have no left-handed pitching?
Not worried. There are too many talented pitchers with different arm slots out of the pen that can get guys out.
I would rather have a better right handed arm than to bring in a lefty just for the matchup.

I think it will take a litlle while to put all the right pieces together and build some chemistry as we’ve seen in past years with PM teams but once this team gets rolling they have the potential to be very dangerous.

Yeah the outfield is set. I think Smith at 3rd and Hal at SS may be correct. The right side of the IF is a bit of a question.
Doughty gets first crack behind the plate I guess.

Brock Mathis is the starting catcher. Garza will also catch once his knee heals up, he will DH in the mean time. Drew Bianco will back up Mathis until Garza is ready. CJ Willis will probably catch in the future once his shoulder heals up. In the meantime he will DH and play 1st.

Bianco just a body there because of need or is a permanent move an actual possibility?
