Probably weekday starter is my guess.

Looks like he might be the midweek guy now if Skenes, Floyd, & Hurd are all healthy.

Shores need to continue starting to aid his development. Right now that means mid weeks. He needs to develop his out pitch, learn how to get guys out without his best stuff, learn how to get guys out that have seen him more than once, continue to extend, and continue to navigate multiple up and downs.

But once his out pitch clicks for him, he becomes one of the best relievers and then should be used that way. The good thing is he’s got the opportunity to work on everything at once.

Agree with this but the fact that he was warming up to go in today tells me that may not necessarily be the plan.

I’ll leave that to the Johnson boys, but I’m glad he’s on our team.

No shite? That’s wild.

I definitely thought the fans called an 800 number American Idol style?

Are you sure? Because coaches making that decision really doesn’t sound correct.

On the broadcast Rollins mentioned that Shores was warming up and possibly coming into the game when Kling hit the walk off.

Wouldn't think a planned Tues starter would have been sent in for late relief today.

If he does, I don't want him going more than 2 innings.

It's more important to save his bullets to use as a long reliever if we have a starter run into some trouble during a series.

Well to be fair during the coach O/tiger ree days the rant did have a large influence

It may be a situation where they’ll use him on the weekend if they have to have him and if they can get by without him they’ll start him on the weekday.

I disagree I think it’s way more important to develop him as a starter. You’ve already got Cooper, Ack, Edwards and Little who are capable of extending in long relief.

You can never have enough quality relievers. It will do more for his development to see how he responds to high leverage situations than getting him 2-3 innings of work against UNO, SWAC schools and Tulane.

I don’t want him getting 2-3 innings. I want him getting 5-7 innings. That will benefit us a lot more in the postseason than him getting sporadic work on the weekends.

Sure most seasons you would want Shores in relief but we’re in a very luxurious position of not needing him and allowing him to develop in a relatively low stakes environment.

You can’t exactly work on refining a pitch in game if you’re in a 1 run SEC game with a runner on second in the 8th inning.

We don’t need him in the bullpen. We need him to get as good as possible as quick as possible. He’ll do that with a defined schedule in the midweek.

There are things you learn trying to get deep into games that can’t be learned in relief.

The good thing is though that while learning those things, he can also find his out pitch which is pretty much all he needs to be an effective reliever for us.

I honestly don’t think he’s a top 5 option out of the pen. But once he clicks, he might be the 2nd best righty out of the pen behind Little.

You need everyone in the bullpen.

Just because you keep saying that doesn’t make it true.

Project, I agree. But up until that point I want him getting as many innings as possible. He’s going to advance at a much higher rate with 5+ innings every Tuesday or Wednesday than he will with an inning or two some week ends
