Does Saahdiq Charles move to RT if McMillan is starter?

If the best OT typically plays LT to protect the blindside, and Charles is LSU’s best OT, should he switch to RT to lock up JM’s blindside. Or is it that much of an issue on the collegiate level?

I would imagine.

Teams are going to put their best passrusher on the blind side more often than not.

Why not? Isn’t the point of having your best pass blocking tackle being on your QBs blind side?

I would think so. Saahdiq has experience on that side as well. Let’s hope he doesn’t have to, but I imagine he would if McMillan is the guy

Hopefully 1200goon chimes in, always like his OL insight. As one poster said, he’s played on the right side of line, so that may help also

It depends on Charles ability to play on that side.

Shifting from one side to another is like learning to write with your left hand for some guys. It’s not always an easy transition

This is why there is not 1 left-handed starter in the NFL.

I can't believe y'all are serious.
Have you ever heard of a team switching tackles because they switched qbs

I realize it’s not common practice, but OT is pretty thin at this point and by all accounts there will be more of a need for pass protection.

So what if LSU plays a two QB system this year (one lefty and one righty). With your logic, would we flip the LT and RT every time we change QB's?

Arkansas under Petrino had a "Strongside" and "weakside" tackle position, they had to no left and right tackle. Depending on the formation either tackles would play left or right, I do remember that.

From Paul Petrino at Illinois, but you get the point:

Yes

The blocking scheme is the same. If Charles has the mental capacity to not have brain farts getting his sides mixed up, he could succeed at this. As mentioned, he has played on the right before.

This is not a dumb question at all

why?

I'd think you put your best players in the most important positions. Yes, everything in the playbook would be mirror-image with a move from LT to RT, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Where does Magee fit into the Oline plans? Looked pretty good in Spring game.

Traore looked bad because K.Chassion is just a freak athlete with too much speed and he added some pass rush moves he's gonna make alot of tackles look bad this year
