Just wondering what you guys think about playing Texas tech. I don't know anything about them but I think they're considered "small time" as it relates to the college football world.

I am worried that people will associate them when they think about LSU football and I'd hate to hurt our national brand/image. We have the second most recognizable program behind Alabama and I don't want to tarnish it.

Is tech the TAMU of the Big 12?

I don't know about you, but to me the "Texas Bowl" just screams prestige

ETA: yes, TTech is a no win situation for LSU

It will when they pass for 400+ yards

It's not the opponent. It's the bowl game. Would you think this if we played them in the Sugar or Cotton bowl?

No. All the major title contenders play in the Advocare V100 Texas bowl.

One small time team playing another small time team in a small time bowl isn't likely to change the image of either program either way regardless of who the winner is.

Do you care, or even know, who won the Texas Bowl two years ago? The Outback Bowl four years ago? The Music City Bowl six years ago? It's an irrelevant bowl with two irrelevant teams. You could ask about it on a trivia quiz two weeks after the game and probably 80+% of college football fans wouldn't even be able to name either one of the teams who played in it, let alone who won it.

Saying LSU is the second most recognizable program is completely wrong

It would hurt the image of our program if we were coming off some BCS bowls. Considering our end of season rankings for the past few years, people will see it as normal.

If they beat us it will not look good for the program. That's for sure.

Yes. Bowl-wise, we are now on their level.

Probably best bowl under the scenario of this season.
In a prime recruiting location.
Irrelevant that it is Texas Tech
Beat them and it won't matter
The atmosphere and time slot for this one is better than some New Year's locales
Primetime, sellout
Wish it would have been LSU Texas last year instead of the Music City Bowl

Yawn....

Said the same thing about Clemson. In fact, I don't recall one time LSU fans didn't bitch about the bowl game except in 2003. Seriously, every year you people do this.

Good god you are a sad person....its actually pretty pathetic you calling LSU a small time program...who gives a shite what bowl it is if it ain't the playoff. You are far too emotionally vested in this. Even in a down stretch over last 4 years LSU will have finished top 15 three out of four years.
