It’s a comment that Moscona threw out and I think he’s got a legit point. Both possible starters (Garner and Converse) are ranked in the top 25 in the country by position with Bernard-Converse transferring now gives us this argument .

At the end of the day it happens on the field

Defensive Line is stacked, and the secondary is pretty stacked as far as I’m concerned. Defense should be pretty big this season.

First off, no

Secondly,

Nobody really knows yet but the Ok St transfer Bernard-Converse more than likely will win the other job.

Converse, Garner, Banks, and Brooks makes for a pretty stout secondary

The people setting unrealistic expectations for this team will be the same ones venting like babies when we go down in the first quarter of a game. More than anything, they need to stay healthy at CB.

I think you mean Garner and Bernard-Converse. I wonder if Banks is in the position battle?

Who knows. They might end up as studs they might not. I know that those rankings are not legit. They don't account for NFL projected prospects it's purely NCAA which is why some 1st round picks are ranked behind others. It's hard to take those rankings seriously. NFL players >>> good college players especially in SEC.

Garner might surprise because he's a big physical CB and I'm pretty sure right now he's projected has a high round pick that could go higher based on his play here. Safety is the weaker skill group, imo.

It’s just a projection by position and I didn’t catch the publication but only one other school has 2 players at CB ranked in top 25 by position

For sure but Converse is a proven asset
Garner is a proven asset
Greg Brooks and Foucha are proven in the SEC
Sevyn Banks was a starter at Ohio State before being injured

All of these guys are proven to a degree. We may not have seen them suit up in an LSU uniform but you can see their stats and film. They’re studs.

Ringo and Lassiter at UGA are by far the best CB duo in the nation.

Yup based on NFL projected alone but those rankings are silly that he's talking about. This secondary is either boom or bust who knows. Need a lot to come together for the safeties and cornerbacks.

I think it will be the weakest position groups on the roster outside TE. We'll see how good of a coach Cooks is too. Only move I really question by BK so far is him hiring Cooks who doesn't exactly have glowing accomplishments coaching DBs.
