I think we finish with either a 18-12 or 19-11 sec record. Big weekend series on the road to see what direction we are headed.

Most years, yes. Depends on how other teams factor in around the country, though.

Possibly that would put you first or second in the West. i Don’t believe anyone is catching Florida for the overall but 1st or second in the West should get you host site at minimum.

yes this is a tough one to figure. Florida is going to win the league so they are going to get one. I think there is going to be a log jam with everybody else.

This year in this league? Absolutely

We'd have to go 10-5 against Carolina, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Bama and Auburn to end up with 19 wins.

We would essentially have to win every series or sweep a couple of them.

Going to be tough. I don't see a national seed being our reward for 2018.

i would take that right now

we need to go on a long winning streak (or only lose a few games) the rest of the way to get a national seed. Win the tourney

IF we finished 19-11 I would be completely shocked. Would mean we gone one hell of a win streak. Not completely out the realm of possibility, we've seen it before, but at 9-6 currently that means we go 10-5 to finish against these 5 final teams:

@ Carolina
@ Ole Miss
Arkansas
Alabama
@ Auburn

That's 2-1 on average every series, better hope we sweep 1 if not 2 of those series, because highly doubt we go 2-1 in every single one.

I got no sweeps. I got us winning every series except at Ole Miss. It was tough giving us the nod over Arkansas but I think we are really tough at home. If the series was on the road I would have giving it to them. Still may drop one more in there why I put 18-12. The league is really good this year.

I'll be there pulling for that outcome, but man, that's a tough road to hoe.

If we lose 2 of 3 to ole miss then 18 wins is still more than I thought likely following A&M.

I see a complete log jam in the SEC going down to the last weekend. My prediction is Arkansas will hold onto the lead but there will be multiple 17-13 and 16-14 teams.

There's no point trying to map it out right now, LSU was 10-8 going into week 7 a year ago, everyone was holding true to Florida and Kentucky and were confident they would be national seeds.

Right now to finish ahead of Ark and Ole Miss probably needs to be the goal and still might need some big RPI wins in SEC tourney

just to be clear we could lose another series besides ole miss and still get to 18. I was figuring 19 when I came up with my scenario.

I'm sure we'll beat some quality RPI teams on the way to playing in the championship game, as is tradition.

at the midway point in the season last year, Florida was 8-7, LSU was 9-6. Kentucky and State were 10-5. Over the next 15 SEC games, LSU and Florida both ended up 21-9 in the SEC, Kentucky finished 19-11, and State 17-13. All it takes is one subpar weekend from Florida and one great weekend from us and we're right back in it. And that could be this weekend. Florida plays @ Kentucky and we get 6-9 USC. If we sweep and Florida loses 2 out of 3, we're one game back with 12 to play.

19-11 will absolutely get LSU a national seed. If they finish 19-11, that would mean they most likely took 2/3 from ole miss and arkansas - two top 5 teams.

take 2/3 from south carolina (road)
take 2/3 from ole miss (road)
take 2/3 from arkansas (home)
take 2/3 from alabama (home)
take 2/3 from auburn (road)

finish 19-11 with three road series wins in the SEC gets you a national seed.

I agree that the chance of stealing a series against Ark is possible since we play at home. Plus, LSU has seemed to have Ark's number since Van Horn has been coaching (from what I found online, I think he has only ever won one series against LSU). I think commentators have even pointed that out in the past.

But winning the series against Auburn will be no small task, especially with it being at their place. Mize is probably a top 2 or 3 pitcher in the conference this season; and if you lose the Friday night game, it will be tough to get 2 in a row, especially if our Sunday pitching isn't figured out by then.

Depends on if there are more than one team with better records and how each team does in the SEC tx.

Not without the sweeps you said were not a consideration in determining your numbers..

If LSU loses two of the five remaining series then a sweep over one of the three remaining schools is required just to get to 18 wins. Lose two series and two sweeps are required to get to 19. Earlier you said you weren't factoring in any sweeps.

current - 9 wins
lose two series and we have 11 wins at best.

Would need at least seven wins over three weekends to get to 18 and eight wins over three weekends to reach 19.

you're right. I got crossed up. 18-12 seems much more likely. Possibly we may be able to sweep Alabama to get to 19.
