Both came into full time, big 3 jobs at LSU the same year.

O inherited a team that was ranked #4 the year before and came into his 1st season with an All American RB, All American DE, senior laden team. He was given an unlimited budget to go hire any coaches that he saw fit. He then proceeded to set 2 historically bad marks by losing to Troy (snapping a 49 game OOC Home winning streak) and losing to State by 30 (largest margin of victory every in our oldest played series). He won 9 games with 2 of those coming against winning teams, one being 7-6 A&M and the other 9-4 Auburn. Stumbled his way to the finish line in recruiting, didn’t fill the class and finished with the lowest ranked class LSU has had in 15 years. The proceeded to fire his OC after 1 short year costing LSU a 1.5 million dollar buyout.

Wade took over what is widely considered one of the worst basketball team LSU has ever produced. He proceeded to land Tremont Waters in a very short period of time, took a team that was picked to finish last in the SEC and produced more top 50 wins than anyone in the country. With 2 regular season games left he still has LSU in the tournament discussion. On top of that he’s secured a top 3 recruiting class, that has surprised so many people that journalist are making up stories about he NCAA looking into his tactics.

Going into ‘19 football season LSU faces a brutal football schedule with questions all over the field, none more prominent than the man with the headset.

Going into the ‘19 Basketball season LSU looks poised to be a top 15 team with legitamite tournament aspirations.

If say LSU finishes 8-5 or 9-4 in football with another sub-par bowl and the basketball team makes the Sweet 16, will the immediate success of Will Wade hurt Ed Orgeron’s job security?

Orgeron is going to hurt Orgeron. He doesn't need any "help"

No, Ed hurts his own job security.

I agree 100%. I’m just saying Wades ability to win both on the court and on the trail is going to make people ask why O can’t do it with more resources.

Almost every sane LSU fan has already asked this question hundreds of times.

We were asking that question about Les in his last years. No one believed Orgeron was going to be an improvement on that.

No

1. Very few people care about basketball

2. Most people understand there is a huge difference in the sports. You can fundamentally change the trajectory of a basketball season with 2 blue chip recruits that will have a huge impact as true freshman. Takes a lot more with football and players take longer to develop.

Maybe they should've brought WW in to close Surtain Jr.

I think a sub par baseball season will hurt Orgeron more than Wade ever could. Would put more pressure on the football season to be a success

Just look how long it took Kirby Smart to turn things around at Georgia!

IF anything I hope Wade inspires Orgeron to be a real head coach.

Wades success

Slow down...he has a winning record. Just because he's in a sport where above .500 is accepted at LSU, he has a long way to go to reach the winning % of football.
If wade screws up next year with this class he signed, he will feel the heat. We have at least 1 one n done

It’s never helpful to have a good coach show how good coaches immediately improve a program.

They are polar opposites in terms of short term success under their leadership, and thats fricking undeniable.

One runs a tight ship, holds players accountable, speaks the truth at the podium, and one does not.

I think what's most notable is the recruiting class he put together. Top 3 class for a school not known for basketball.

Ed O, who will tell anyone that'll listen how well he can recruit, has the #15 class in a sport that we're known for.

Orgeron is worried about his football team the success there of. Wade, IMO, is about as good as we possibly could have hoped for in terms of our basketball program. If O were to concern himself with what the basketball team is doing or any other athletic program at lsu he would be doing his own team a disservice.

Maybe O will borrow one of Wade's binders.

He would have to bomb and win less than 10 games to feel any heat. Wade gets time because he’s proven he can build and sustain a winner.

People are watching O’s every move because he tanked as a HC.

Yeah everything in O's background as a HC shows that he doesn't need much help imploding programs.
