I know that people will scream from the rooftops about education, but anybody that decides to leave the program needs to be away from the current players. The last thing I think that anyone wants (and I am not saying this is happening. i'm talking worst-case scenario) is a kid negatively recruiting against LSU while the school is still footing their bills.

A player decides to quit. That is their choice, and everyone should respect it. Everyone should also respect that the university should go ahead and take back all of the benefits of a scholarship as soon as the player decides to leave. That includes tuition, books, housing and food.

It's not personal. College football is just business, and big business at that.

Multiple players transfer every year. I'm sure the coaches understand how to handle these situations by now

Along with the fact that they are likely processing his paperwork in this situation. It's not a flip of a switch situation.

I think his name is in the transfer portal. The way I understand it, if nothing better comes along, he can stay.

Actually the way it should be.

All I know is he’s driving a new Crimson Red Dodge Challenger.

Nothing to see here.

not really but each situation is different. O might not know how to hire a good OC, but he certainly is good at handling these types of situations.

If a player decides to transfer, scholarship should be voided immediately.. any housing arrangements need to be canceled and should not be allowed around any of the current players or facilities at all. Bye

so a contract isn't worth any more than the paper that it was signed on?

I would assume that he's still on campus if he wants to be. His scholarship may even be in place given that scholarships are a year to year thing.

The university will obviously not give him any future benefits (assuming he's transferring). The football team could, at their discretion, remove him from all football activities and remove him from the team. Depending on the situation (are they trying to change his mind) that may or may not happen right then. That woudl be how you "protect the program and keep him away from the current players".

Except, entering your name in the portal is not, yet, deciding to transfer. It's looking at the opportunity to transfer, or not. He could always withdraw his name, again, and stay....unless the program decides that they'd rather move on too.

Yeah let's kick them off campus as soon as they enter the portal to guarantee that they leave. frick waiting to see if they decide to stay.

Scholarship agreements last thru the semester unless a kid just up and leaves.

Daryl Edwards is heading to Nevada in the summer but he’s still doing rehab around the team.

The LSU program is much stronger than to allow one person to affect it like that.

Scholarships are year to year. Once the semester is underway the fees are paid. Schools gain nothing from an image standpoint by getting engaged in a dispute with a transferring athlete. Sometimes the coaches encourage a transfer, other times there are valid reasons for the player to leave. Everyone is better off with a seamless transition.

Dude, take a nap...

You dont even know why he's leaving. The best thing you can do is support his decision and move on.
