He truly must not be ready. I imagine if he was we would have seen him at least once but I guess a redshirt to allow him more time to get ready was the best option.

It could have been an issue of him agreeing to redshirt before the season, so he wasn't on the official roster at the start. That meant he couldn't be added later.
