Rockies head coach is considering benching DJ so that he wins the batting title.

He's at 0.349 and Murphy is at 0.347

Seems unamerican.

ETA: Thanks, admin. Hit submit too soon originally and rushed to get the title and post updated with at least something.

Lol at Mike and Mike this morning acting like a batting title doesn't mean shite because he plays for the Rockie.

That part was retarded. But I don't like him not playing to win it.

Yep his coach said he will fall on the sword for him to win the batting title!! I don't blame him, great move! The batting title is not won in the last few games of the year.

Murphy is hurt so why chance DJ's average dipping below .347. If Murphy was playing it would be completely different situation. He is not so why should DJ lose the batting title when Murphy isn't playing, he shouldn't.

With the other guy hurt, it puts added pressure on DJ to perform.

if i am the one in this position (dj's) i would do everything i can to keep playing. 20 years down the line i think i'd regret not playing it out

So you think Maddox or Schilling would miss their last start if healthy to win the era title?

It's a bush league move and that player is a pussy if he agrees to this.

A batting title is a very notable thing in a players career. I would miss a few games if it meant winning that title.

Play it out for what? Murphy isn't playing so DJ shouldn't either. What so 20 years down the road Murphy can say he won the batting title because he was hurt and DJ played and lost it. Nope!

If there were something on the line I'd agree, but the Rockies are out of it. He spent six months building his average. No point in letting a bad night undo all that work.

THIS GUY NAILED IT. I think it would be worse for baseball if Murphy won it after not playing the last two weeks of the season than DJ sitting the last 3 or 4 games

There's like, what, 4 games left? Why the heck not. That's a big thing to add to your resume, and he did it in a season when multiple second baseman are having career years.

Man, the other guy being hurt makes it a much tougher call.

If you're going to publicly say this, why not bat DJ until his next AB (and potential out) would make him dip below?

Who knows, DJ could go 4-4 in his next game and could go 0 for his next 8+

Chark seems to be our best WR, why would we bench him?
