Did we miss the field goal, or did the officials blow the call ?

Depth perception is difficult on TV, but everybody I have talked to, turned away after the kick, thinking it looked good and awaiting the commercial time out.
For those at the game with a good vantage point, was the kick good?

The guy with the vantage point directly below the goal post said it was not good.

He also looked across to the other official before making the wrong call.

I sit in the SEZ so was looking straight at it. I thought it got through and was a little surprised with refs signal. I didn't drink any booze before the game either.

We will never know because ESPN has cut back on the number of cameras covering the game due to financial reasons. Did you also notice that many of the penalties called never got shown and we had to take the announcers' word that they occurred?

Refs have never screwed anything up before. Ever.

The FG was no good. It appeared to sail right over the top of the left upright but since it didn't travel between the two posts it will ALWAYS be call "no good".

He was making sure it was above the crossbar

All refs do this on every single kick. It is standard proceedure

Ummm. He kind of has to tell the other official his call. Some of you really are dense.

Are you implying that a crew of refs run by a Bama graduate might be biased against other teams? Say it ain’t so....

False, he is not the official that made the call.

Lasers shooting upward from top of each upright would cure this problem, especially for replay purposes. Simple idea.

I looked good on the initial angle shown. I was surprised when they called it wide left. On the replay it was harder to tell because the kick high and moving from right to left. Hard to tell where it crosses the vertical plane of the goal post.

He was clueless. He started looking at the other official before he made the call.

It was no good. I was in the student section and saw it go wide of the goal post.

This is one of the things that added to the doubt about the call.
Obviously, the call did nothing to affect the outcome, but on TV the kick looked good. In fact, it didn't look like it was a close call, but, as I say depth perception on tv is tough.
