Did Tory Carter play last night?
Posted by MarcoPolo on 9/1/19 at 11:11 am10
I read that he had some connection to GS. I think his dad played there. Would've been nice to see him score on them. What do yall think his role is going forward?

He was in there some. I would like to see an increased role as a lead blocker.

He was in on several personnel packages but had no touches.

To pave the way for our very talented running backs.

I think the concept of this offense is to get the guys in space, which is why we had 102 receiving yards just for our RB's alone.
A Fb's job is to free up space for your RB, but if they are already in space...... see where i'm going with this?

I'd say maybe goal line packages but we were in shotgun on the goal line
He deserves a larger role but unless it’s as a lead blocking FB or goal line offense where he’s a blocking TE we probably won’t see him much. Thad Moss and Sullivan really seem to have taken the TE position over. Moss looks like a legitimate all around TE. Carter is one of my favorite players on the team though so I hope they find ways to get his infectious energy on the field.

Moss and especially Sullivan are of the “big-arse receiver” TE variety.
I’d like to see Carter motion around, line up at TE and H-back. Having that battering ram in front of the runner can still really help him get a head of steam.

Also I wasn’t thrilled with how often the back was next to the QB instead of offset. When your first couple of steps are sideways any penetration can blow up the play. Gotta get downhill.

Thanks. I assumed that but my guide did too so I didn’t switch the channel.

I don’t think a lead block running play should be completely eliminated. Would be useful in the red zone. Besides, Saints keep a fullback on roster
