Did Orgeron really learn from his mistakes at Ole Miss?

quote:

When I was a first-time head coach, I wanted to run the USC system,” Orgeron said at his weekly press luncheon Monday. “I loved the USC offense. And Noel Mazzone was my coordinator. And I forced the USC offense on him, and he didn’t know it well. Obviously, he’s a very successful offensive coordinator today (at Texas A&M). So, I thought that was a mistake on my part.

quote:

“I wanted to do everything,” he said recently. “Coach the quarterbacks, the receivers, and I didn’t know anything about them. But I wanted to do it my way. And I learned about that.”

quote:

That was a great opportunity for me,” Orgeron said Monday. “I mean, that’s a good job. But I didn’t do well, and I didn’t like it. I was mad at myself. The techniques that I used to create some of the best defensive lines in the country did not work as a head coach. You’ve got to look at yourself in the mirror. I’m the only person that can change me. So I had to get out of that mode and get more into the head coach role and delegate, and not be the hard butt on the staff.

All sounds pretty familiar to me.

No.

That is very clear. People who thought he would are foolish.

Everyone learns from their mistakes, does that mean that he will do things as you think they should be done , no.

He also didn't learn from Miles' mistakes, which is even more dumbfounding.

It's really hard to believe that this is the current state of LSU football.

No.

And there was never any proof.

And this.

O's career as a DL coach, and a failure of a HC should tell people that he has never learned much at all. If he did, he would have promotions, HC experience in a variety of locations. Proven execution at a high level. Smart people hire smart people who are improving themselves...

What? Prisons across the world are full of repeat offenders that prove this statement false.

Orgeron lied his arse off to get this job and that's now becoming obvious. He had no intention of ever just letting any offensive coordinator (with the exception of Kiffin) fully install anything other than the offense that he likes. He wouldn't have messed with Kiffin because I think that's the offense he wants, but even Kiffin and his huge arse ego let someone run a different offense under him. He's not fricking with the defense because he knows Aranda is untouchable at LSU and he would get his arse fired immediately if he tries to undermine Dave. Just my opinion obviously but it seems pretty evident that's the type of stuff going on. Orgeron has a huge ego and he wants his ideas to be right to feed that ego and he'll go to whatever lengths he has to do it. Even if it means he gets fired over it. He knows he's got that buy out and he won't really do anything to allow them to fire him with cause.

Should be noted that this was accomplished during two of the worst seasons defensively in the SEC and more notably in the second season where 5 teams fired their coaches.

It's hard for people to change their stripes no matter how much we try. A man in his 40s and 50s is unlikely to change his ways ... we are who we are.

There's a reason why history tends to repeat itself.

Oh, we want to act like he doesn't have half the amount of those losses from outside the SEC?
