Did LSU recruit Baylor's Jared Butler?

I don't really follow basketball recruiting and watching the Baylor game I was reminded that Butler played at Riverside Academy in Reserve. Was LSU ever a contender or was Butler a casualty of LSU, notably Trent Johnson, dropping the ball with Ricardo Gathers?

I went to school with him, I think the reason was to get out of LA.

Mark Vital also is from Louisiana he went to Washington Marion (LC) his freshman and sophomore year committed to Baylor then went to a prep school in Dallas his junior and senior year.

And LSU had ZERO PG. Baylor had 2 true PGs. That’s the difference when you watch their offense.

Smart was a bright spot on this team. He was an above average to elite PG this year.

So you’re saying Smart was in the same hemisphere with those 2? How about our last true PG in Waters?
Smart was a combo guard playing PG at times. I know people will say this and that. Smart could not control the flow of games like real PGs do.

Javonte Smart season stats:
16 pts, 46% FG, 40% 3P%, 4 AST, 1.3 STL, 2 TO.
I’d say they are pretty damn comparable.
Jared Butler season stats:
16.6 pts, 47% FG, 41% 3P%, 4.7 AST, 2 STL, 2.9 TO
Javonte Smart season stats:
