Y’all do realize our starting catcher is out with an injury and Jordan is the third string catcher, right?

I think Notre Dame is a pretty decent team. No way they are more talented than LSU but they looked more focused and prepared. Not ready to panic yet but I expect Texas to win 2/3 next weekend.

We don't see eye to eye on much, but we definitely do on this. We can't rate this team based on the first series. I don't know if it was nerves, being uncomfortable in roles, or both, but LSU's starting pitching basically stunk. Talent is not the issue. The next couple of weeks will give a clearer understanding of what this team is made of.

Doesn't the team have an ex catcher on the payroll to work with the catchers?

You obviously didn't watch the games. Jordan gave up 4 stolen bases and at least 4 passed balls on Friday.

Correct but when litchers make no attempt to hold runner on despite having a non-starting catcher it falls on the pitchers and coaches just as much.

Notre dame let the whole sec know anybody can run on the tigers

Some of that could be because of the pitchers. Many bases are stolen off the pitcher. Also they have an advantage if they get lucky and steal on a breaking pitch. As soon as that pitcher, especially a right hander, lifts his plant leg the runner picks up a few seconds to get to second. I don't see any of the pitchers sliding toward home to quicken the pitch or vary his delivery. Stealing bases is like getting a double at bat.

Some on the catchers, but I think the pitchers weren't particularly good at holding runners. And too slow to the plate - in the 1.4 to 1.7 range at times. That's not good enough.

The merry go round is going to be our name this year.

Our starting catcher was out. I'm not willing to concede a return to the Matt Heath era.

It was both. ND could have stolen 30 bases if they wanted to. On several steals, the ND runner was a third of the way to second before the pitch was even made. My seats are behind first, and I can tell you that most of the time the pitcher never even looked at first. Several steals did not even draw a throw. It was pretty tough watching this along with all the other mistakes being made by the whole team. They looked like it was the first practice of the year.

It isn't all about speed bud. Reminds me of a Texas Southern pitcher from last year's regional. Throws super slow but has amazing off-speed and can put the ball anywhere he wants. Sometimes, that is better than 95

Hess and his delivery is a big part of the problem.

I think Cabrera's motion was slow also.

When a team has 10 stolen bases, it's time to make an adjustment. It's call a slide step. Dunn shouldn't have to tell them that. If he has too, he's recruiting the wrong type of players. Both the catcher and pitcher have to take blame for all the stolen bases.
