Don’t overreact to Dembrock. Most of this is a very talented quarterback.

And Denbrock is doing a great job optimizing his skill set. LSU's offense is the best in the country and getting better every week.

I wasn't excited about House but I was happy about it compared to the hire of Denbrock.

I think it's a product of his level of comfort with Jayden. He's progressed to a degree that there's nothing in the playback that's off limits.

Denbrock has an embarrassment of riches that can make a guy look much better than he is and House is in the exact opposite situation.

While true, the transformation in Daniels has been amazing. Some of that has to go to Denbrock. It will be interesting to see how well Nuss does out of the gate next season vs mid-season vs 2025 if he sticks around. He is a completely different player with a much different skill set. If we have an offense with Nuss approaching the one this year, even at 60+ years old, Denbrock will be getting a major P5 job offer soon.

IF Denbrock wants to be a HC. OTOH, he may be one of those guys that's content being a lifelong assistant coach.

Quarterbacks like Burrow and now Daniels can make a OC.
Last year folks were doubting him. Once Daniels conquered his assignments, makes every throw, in addition to running ability, Denbrock looks like a magician. It was Daniels dedication and his QB Coach who helped him transition from a gunslinger into a developed QB.

Remember how the perception of Ensminger changed after Orgeron allowed him to open up the offense. Made Burrow an instant millionaire.

I think part of it is the fact that we have so much talent on offense this year. It'll be really interesting to see what he can do next year when JD5 is gone and Nabers, Thomas, and several of the running backs are gone.
What he did last year was great too. Last year we were 28th in total offense and 24th in scoring offense. That yardage total and scoring total was better than any LSU team since 2013 outside of 2019 and it was pieced together with duck tape and bubble gum.

The thing though is that it's not just Denbrock. LSU utilizes a team effort to run the offense. Sure, Denbrock is the play caller, but Kelly, Sloan, Hankton, Wilson, Davis and the analysts come up with the gameplan. It's a collective effort of minds. The good thing also is that they weren't married to this TE focus point scheme. They knew what they had and what they could get at WR. The TE is now just another weapon to add to the collection with them instead of just a blocker like it has been for LSU.

Yes.

LSU's offense is not particularly creative. The scheme/approach really isn't fooling anyone, nor is it incredibly tough to prepare for. The reason it has been so successful is that they have an answer for however the defense wants to attack it and the players are executing at a high level.

First, the OL has been really good. That's where it starts. If a defense wants to sit back in zone LSU is fine. They are happy to run comeback routes in the soft spots or just hand the ball to Diggs for 7-8 yards up the middle. Also, the OL has been good enough to allow Daniels time to wait in the pocket for guys to clear the zones downfield. Once they do, he's been incredibly accurate throwing the ball.

If you want to bring a safety up to attack the run, LSU is ok with that too because they believe their receivers can beat anyone in man coverage. On that note, if you want to blitz you kind of do so at your own risk because (1) Daniels will throw a deep ball to Nabers/Thomas. Or (2) if you don't get there with the blitz Daniels will just take off and "jog" for 40 yards.

The 2019 team obviously had great players. But the scheme also fooled a lot of defenses as well. That really isn't the case this year. It's just great players executing a really high level and a QB that can kill you both through the air and on the ground. It has to be incredibly frustrating for defense to feel you have everything blanketed in the passing game only to watch Daniels go flying by you on the ground.

This is exactly what I was talking about a few days ago. LSU is an offense that can't be stopped, because they have a plan for everything. You even forgot to add the elite blocking by WRs and RBs, the fact that at least the top 3 RBs can catch the ball as well (so you aren't showing your hand when a guy comes in), a great TE that can block and is schemed for to get him open and make plays, and WRs that are basically punt returnees in the open field. It's literally a pick your poison offense. To have an offense with absolutely zero holes have 2 losses because of nightmare bad defense is the ultimate disrespect. I pray for some 2007 chaos to get LSU into the playoffs.

didn’t notice anything about his resume that screamed offensive genius. I thought he’d be a good OC but I had no clue he was going to have us as the premiere offense in all of CFB.

Is it as simple as him just having better athletes to play with than ever before?

He isn't an offensive genius. Not doing anything extraordinary.

He has a fifth year qb who is on fire. Daniels is why denbrock looks good. You can't defend his running.

O line is looking great minus the fsu game.

I am utterly amazed at how well coached every single player on offense is. Against Auburn, they would bring up a bunch of guys to the line like it's going to be a massive blitz. In response, we would calmly change formation and reposition the TE and RB to have extra blockers if needed. Sometimes Auburn actually would blitz, and when they did, the Oline, TE, and RB blocked everyone. No free guys. No missed assignments. JD had plenty of time to find a man. Sometimes Auburn would peel some men away and do a zone blitz with only 4 men, and when they did our OLine would pick them all up and the TE and RB would release into pass patterns. No matter where an extra guy came from, our OLine had them. It was outstanding. No matter what they did, our players automatically responded perfectly. That's being well coached. Our offense is a fricking machine.

And I am not at all worried about Nuss next season. He's got the skill set, and the coaches are going to have him doing exactly what he's supposed to do.

If Emery would’ve slowed up just a little, he could’ve rode Taylor’s block into the end zone. He scored that TD anyway though.

Having experienced players who are able to grasp more of the concepts also is contributing to the performance level of this offense.
Now the defense needs for the fog to lift, and it appears that is starting to happen as well

Jimmys and Joes, not Xs and Os…

Denbrock has been great, but great players make good coaches into “geniuses” (see: 2019)

We have some awesome players on offense that probably make Denbrock (who has been great) look even better than he is.

Conversely, House is dealing with trying to scheme around a significant talent shortage in some position groups. He’s probably better than he looks right now.

Denbrock is doing a great job; remember, Kelly is an offensive coach as well.
