Is Mascona campaigning to become Clemson's DC.

Etling said it worked and was fun to run that offence?

But it's a fact & even I, joe fan, saw that after the first 2 games. The other defenses would just reset their stances & stay in position. The players especially commented that the offense itself was not complicated & that all the motion/s did was act as a disguise.

The shifts are in service of the reads, they largely aren't used to fool a defense. To be clear, there are some shifts that are for decoy or deceptive purposes, but the garden variety shifting is to help the offense with their reads.

Usually. But etling wasn't reading defenses. Etling wasn't changing plays based on shifts. I'm not arguing with you, all I'm saying is that the shifts really weren't confusing to defenses.

Are Danny and Clapp running around a lot, and I'm just missing it?

That's why the offense didn't explode like people thought it would. That craps works on teams with less talent and brains.

Canada said in his preseason interview with local media that the quarterback generally has two options in his offense on passing plays. The shifting helps him to identify where the ball is likely to need to go pre-snap. It isn't necessarily about fooling anyone. Movement from left to right can tell you much about the type of coverage. That will dictate the concept utilized on a given play.

Canada's "system" didn't fool good defenses. Just a fact.

Damn. If only someone would have figured that out in 2016, including Clemson. Or maybe there's something more to it...

Fair enough. Then I don't think our qb did a very good job diagnosing the defenses. We didnt throw to open recievers during games. It was a glaring problem

Agreed. (not necessarily directed to you) Look, here's the deal. The one half of the one game we did no shifts, we were hot garbage. What Canada was saying was without the shifts which had been worked on all spring and fall, it was going to be difficult for the players to know what to do. He was right. It is why you can't switch horses like that mid-stream.

I disagree. Football nerds did film breakdowns of his Pitt scheme in the offseason after he was hired, some even before he was hired.

A Bayou Boy like Orgeron, trying to blame Orgeron's woes on Canada, imagine that.

Danny's problems were physical. Simple as that. You can execute a dagger concept beautifully, but if no one fears your void because you can't hit it with your noodle arm, or you can't fit your crossing route because you don't have the arm-strength, it doesn't matter how well you read the defense.

We were hot garbage on offense alot this year. I think it was an improvement over the previous 2 years, but it wasn't very good very often.
