Welcome back for what will be my second to last post on the Denbrock offense. Today I'll go over his play action passing game. Denbrock LOVES to take shots in the PA game with his favorite routes being the deep cross and the deep post. He will pull one of your safeties down in run support, and force the single high safety to make a choice. The QB can simply read the safety and make the throw.

Here is a good example vs a single high safety. The slot runs a deep cross and boundary runs the post. The safety takes the cross leaving a 1 on 1 in the post for an easy TD.

Most of his PA is structured in a similar manner. A deep cross paired with a post or a go. Here is another vs single high. You see the TE struggled to get separation with the deep cross and Ridder takes the shot. Hell of a catch.

Here he takes a shot at the deep cross vs man coverage.

He will sprinkle in a couple other concepts as well. Here is one I really love - smash. Smash is a corner route from the slot, paired with a 5 yard hitch or out on the outside.
Here he runs PA Smash out of trips. Ridder was a little bit late and behind with this ball. I love this play with our WRs, and it's a very safe throw.

When Cincy ran play action there were very few short or intermediate throws. They took SHOTS. A lot. Often times even when it was not open. Whether this is Denbrocks coaching or just a tendency of Ridder, I do not know. Across the board on any pass concept, Ridder seemed to be encouraged to take shots to Alec Pierce when he was in 1 on 1 coverage. Denbrock will definitely give our guys chances to make plays. Now it's time to execute.

I think we’re in pretty good hands with Denbrock. If the QB and O-line deliver..we could have a great season.

Waste of LSUs talent not working the short to intermediate. It was the run after the catch that won games in 2019.

This is 1 concept. Probably 80% of his passing game is short to intermediate.

Also, it is not 2019 anymore. Joe Burrow is not suiting up for LSU on Sunday.

It seems that tight ends are a key piece to the passing offense. How much, then, does he throw to his backs and what did that look like (screens, flats, wheel, etc.)?

Tight ends are a large piece. However, they were only responsible for 57 of Cincy's 257 completions last year. (And 12 touchdowns)

His backs will get a few targets per game depending on the opponent. For example, against UGA last year he threw to the backs a ton in the flats due to the UGA pass rush. He does run a good number of screens, but a lot of those are WR and TE screens.

I certainly don't want to be taking a lot "Shots", not in the SEC. Surely there will be PA with TE, quick slants, curls. Our talented WR's can do the rest.
With the uncertainty in the Oline, I expect lots of PA though.

If we get 12 touchdowns from the TE position this year, this offense will be dynamic. I am hoping that at least one of the backs can develop into a consistent pass catching threat in this offense.

Again, this is just 1 concept. This is nowhere close to his entire passing game

It was Joey B's decision making and accuracy that won games in 2019.

With the way Denbrock designs his passing game I really don't see them getting a ton of targets unless the O line is struggling.

So how much influence is CBK going to have on TE's getting touches. He likes his TE's and I think he will have plenty TE passes in the the Denbrock's playbook

In that last clip, it looks like his pocket was breaking down fast but he got that ball out very quickly and close I hope our QBs will be able to do the same. The first 3 clips showed much better protection. Great job and thank you for posting!

Pretty basic question, but what is Denbrock's pass/run ratio typically? We've seen that pendulum swing pretty dramatically here over the last 5 years. What can we expect from our new offense?

I realize this got downvotes, but I’m not a big PA fan either. Mostly, because of Cam Cameron’s idea of the passing game.

I mean PA is a huge part of most teams passing games now.
