Is anyone else annoyed that there is this long delay between the semi-final and the Championship game. It bugs the shite out of me, for some reason.

Yea but I’m ok with it this year to get CEH and Marshall healthy

More time for E , Brady and Burrow to game plan.
More time for Marshall and Lewis and Clyde to get healthy.

Yeah, I think it sucks myself. I’m ready to see how my squad look against a great Clemson squad.

yeah it goes too late into january.
I feel that way every year, but esp this year.
but I am impatient

Yeah, and I hate the Monday night slot as well. There’s a way to coordinate better with the NFL and still have a weekend game.

yeah. I think it should have been on the 6th, but I don't really mind the extra week

Catch 22 for me
Pro:
CEH/Marshall/Lewis get Healthy
Brady/Aranda/E get more time to prepare
Con:
Clemson gets rest after physical game
Venables/Elliott also get time to prepare
Anxiety of waiting is killing me.
In fairness, it used to be a month between SECCG and BCSNCG.

Blame the superdome, they were unable to move the game to the 6th when the playoffs decided to change the schedule a few years ago.

Does not compute? So it's the Superdome's fault that the playoffs changed the schedule on them?
I mean does the dome have an event booked there that night? If so then it's not their fault the playoff changed after they already had something booked at their place.

I mean I'm not sure how? The NFL games start at noon and then basically right after. Unless you want to play the NC at like 8am there is no other way. The NFL isnt changing their playoff slotting.
I would say move it to a Friday night atleast that way most dont have to work the next day but that would be an issue if a venue hosts the game then has to host an NFL playoff at noon the next day

I haven't watched the NFL in several years, but don't they still have 2 weeks in between the championship games and the Super Bowl?

The best option would have been Saturday, the 11th. The NFL could have the two afternoon slots (noon & 3:30 CT) and then the CFPCG could be that night.
Only two potential problems:
1) The second NFL game goes into extended overtime and intrudes on the college game.
2) The host venue NFL team hosts a game that weekend, causing a maximum 15 hour turnaround time for the stadium (from end of game to late start on Sunday.
While those two things would be rare, the second would have been true if the Seahawks got one more yard.
So, they choose to make sure neither affect the game and use Monday, which has worked out pretty well for the NCAA basketball tournament.

Well, there was a long delay between the end of the regular season and the semi-final game. It didn't seem to bother the team.

Over here in Clemson, we are kinda used to it.
