With the loss of All-pro Jenkins leaving for the Saints, Mills has been moved to CB to Safety. Coach Pederson of the Eagles said Jalen asked him could he address the team, Coach said that he believes Mills can take over as the vocal leader of the defense. Mills finally healthy after only playing 17 games since the Eagles Super Bowl run in 2017 In which he was a valuable piece in the secondary with 54 tackles, 4 Int., and a TD. He also knocked down the 4th down pass to Julio Jones in the playoffs to seal the victory in that Super Bowl run. Leading this defense at a new position (safety) the Eagles are confident he can fill that role. Playing for a long term extension Mills is also confident——- Mills is just another DB representing—— DBU!!!!

Not meaning to throw shade just asking to see if my memory is correct - wasn't Mills at safety in 13 when we had a weak secondary?

Don’t know but he has only played corner for Eagles now moving to Safety, the Defensive Backfield of the Super Bowl Eagles both the Nickel and Safety (?? & Jenkins) are now with the Saints

Yeah Mills was the FS I believe, and Jalen Collins was one of the corners.

Most of the issues that secondary had was scheme related. I remember them being torched against Georgia

I remember Jalen Collins and his butterfinger hands. He was the only corner I've ever seen be in the perfect place, locate the ball, high-point it with his jump, and then drop the interception. He did that multiple times throughout the season. It was like he started thinking about his pick-6 touchdown dance too early.

Mills was solid I believe. Just didn't seem like the X-factor he seems to be in the NFL. I'm just glad that LSU produces prolific NFL talents. They are usually the top-dogs on the teams they get drafted to at some point of their career.

Mills is a monster and I was confident I would see him be successful in the league. I mean he started at LSU from freshman to his senior year. Who at LSU have we seen that from? If he didn't break his ankle I would think our season would be a bit different in 2015 and he was a top 3 round draft pick...

Dude is a big time under appreciated DB for LSU

Mills played the same position as the Honey Bear in 2012 when he was suspended. He started 4 years I believe for LSU. Because of his versatility he played the position to cover the most dangerous WR on the team.

His recruitment was interesting. He was a low 3* recruit in a TX HS that had several top recruits including a 5* Ol or DL and 1-2 other highly recruited players. The LSU coaches was scouting the high rated recruits when he kept seeing the DB go toward the SL and talk to the coaches and come back and align the defense, and maybe himself moved to a different position in the DB .

The coach was told by the HS coach that Mills was the QB for the defense. The HS coach said he had an astonishing knowledge of defensive schemes. What was even more amazing was that was the only year he played there. He transferred in as a senior.

At the time he had only one scholarship offer from a small school when he got the LSU offer which he accepted. Within 3 days he received 4-5 offers from FBS school. I think at least 3 of them were OK State, TCU, and Texas Tech.

our safeties in 2013 were Ronald Martin and Loston. Mills was a CB that played inside in nickel and mustang, a la Tyrann. Mills started the bowl game at safety because of injury and then played safety his last couple years.

biggest issue with the 2013 secondary early was communication, especially against UGA. pass rush fell off as well from 2012 with all the guys that left/ graduated.

Remember his recruitment well. Remember some Texas guys that year saying we reached for Mills considering his ranking with all the exposure.
I looked back at his class and man there was loads of upside in that class. So many LA kids that had huge upside but most didn't reach it. Mills and Debo Jones were among the lowest ranked of the group, which also introduced LSU fans to the Fergusons.

I remember mills getting a ton of unnecessary criticism from this board, mostly from all the former all pro athletes that comment here
