Should we expect anything out of him this season? He's built like a prototypical power back but hasn't done much in his career thus far. He was the #1 FB in the country and a .91 4 star in the 2015 class and recorded a 4.43 at an LSU camp apparently.

That switch was made before spring, I don't think he had any carries in spring game.

So what's his issue then?

He had pretty freakish speed for his size when he was about 245 in HS. Everything we have heard about him is that he is kind of soft though.

ETA:

Who knows what we're doing with this offense though.

Has there ever been a player more hyped who hasn't produced in any meaningful way? I'm cheering for the guy and appreciate anyone who is willing to dedicate four years of their life to LSU football. But maybe he's just not a great football player? It's OK if he isn't.

This - there’s no off field issues that would prevent him from playing to my knowledge. Some kids have the talent and not the want to.

People on here have said he looks like Tarzan and plays like Jane.

It's just really puzzling. Usually there's an obvious reason as to why someone highly rated doesn't pan out but I can't see one when it comes to Ducre.

That's strange though considering he appeared to be a pretty tough guy in his HS highlights. Pretty weird.

I mean I could easily make you a Top 10 that wouldnt include him of just LSU players from last 5-8 years, I dont think Ducre has ever really been that hyped

People have been asking that for years now with no real good answer given, asking why he hasn't moved to LB, etc. Best I think we ever got was looks like Tarzan plays like Jane, but that could be bullshite for all I know.

Maybe hyped isn't the right word. This board has been obsessed with him since he was a true freshman. He WAS highly rated out of high school ... But as a FB. The board has always been obsessed with the idea of him being used as some kind of specialty back.

All the physical tools, but on film he runs upright and stops moving his feet on contact. After that he churns for more yards, but he stops at the initial pop. I could see him in the mold of Darrell Williams, he also catches well, but for some reason he never has put it all together enough to get on the field.

I mean he was barely a 4-star, not that highly rated. We've certainly had much much higher rated players not do much here and got hyped way way more.

He got ranked highly at FB because fullbacks dont get ranked highly at all but because he doesnt deal with contact well he never has seen much action at FB. You have to have a "I'm willing to sacrifice my body" type attitude to play FB and he just never had it. He will probably see like 10-20 carries at RB this year in some mop up duty and leave LSU with a degree. Pretty sure he's dead last on the depth chart at RB, behind even Lanard Fournette.
