Daronte Jones has done excellent developing young guys

Dude had some issues early in the season. We can all agree on that.

But after having a massive amount of injuries decimate his starting line up, Daronte has done well motivating a group of guys who have no business starting.

His game plans have improved, tackling has improved, pass coverage has improved, intensity is higher.

Across the board the defense is so much better.

While several of our coaches probably shouldn’t work in football again Daronte has shown his value and I think he has a bright future.

Yeah, one of the only coaches you can clearly see making productive changes.

Brilliant strategy to to lose 4 games setting up Bama and Arkansas in the 9th and 10th games of the season. Which we lost both.

It’s as if he is the only one who understands that coaching out your contract and not just collecting a check will pay you bigger dividends in the long run. While Orgeron and Peetz will struggle to find Jobs, Daronte will find something quick if not retained by the next coach.

Are you blind?

This is the a return to REAL LSU defense.

Daronte had to have been handcuffed through most of the season.

It is AMAZING how well the team is playing to his scheme now after only 3 weeks to implement it.

The only issue is that Ed had him running the Ed O defense. I do not know how good he is, but the results have been very positive recently.

Carl, it’s clear you are far too emotional to be making any logical conclusions or decisions. . Please stay away from Amazon, QVC, HSN… better yet you should probably just lose your wallet all together.

Definitely made some improvements, but part of me thinks this is who he really is and was handcuffed by shrimp boat early on. Once shrimp boat lost his job is when the D started improving so that leads me to believe that conclusion. I think he's worth at least an interview by the next HC

He had the right scheme but their QB just broke tackle after tackle to avoid a sack and pick up a first down over and over again. It was frustrating. We made him and Bo Nix look like heisman contenders because we can’t wrap up.

So props to Daronte but the tackling needs to improve a lot. It would’ve changed the Auburn and Arkansas games to W’s instead of close loses.

Defense has stepped up in the last couple games. I think Daronte has improved as a coach but I want the next coach to bring in his own guy. A lot of school will be looking at Daronte though.

I can agree to that. But I can also recognize that tackling has also improved throughout the season. Clearly the slippery QBs give us trouble as we struggle to gauge our blitz speed and contain the whole rather than attempt to rip his head off.

I like the “rip his head off” mentality, but guys will need to understand down and distance a bit better. I can forgive this to an extent.

Defense looks suspiciously different the last 2 weeks. And that’s without some super talented guys. Daronte is finally allowed to do his job, perhaps.

Our defense wore down, and I really can't blame them. Great first half, but the depth isn't there. I saw the tackling start to break down before halftime.

You ppl are lowering the bar. Damn ppl, you all are ok with it taking him 9 weeks to come up with something that was positive? I tell you another difference is the spirit the players played with. The ones that are left are ones that want to play like Damon Clark and has played hard all year. The others are ones who would likely never sniff the field but have a passion to play. They know they don't have much chance at the NFL so they have no agenda, they just play 100% and it shows.

No one is okay with that but he has improved tremendously and it won’t surprise me at all if he ends up being a good coach somewhere. I’ll be rooting for him.

Rumor was Jones took it over in the defensive backfield about a month ago which is his speciality.
