If you're going to go hard in the paint with the woe is me underdog role it's best not to do that

But he couldn't help himself. I think he'll regret those words and actions

I'll have to see if I can dig up the video to the press conference but he went on and on about Tua and how he is so tough and such a leader and said if he was an NFL GM he'd be taking Tua.

I'll link as soon as I can find it

LINK

He doesn't specifically say anything bad about Burrow but if you watch his words and his signals I think he's saying Tua is better

Video is in the link

I’ll take your word on it. I don’t care to see that hayseed talk about shite Tuna is glass Joe. He won’t go in the top 20.

I think Tua goes first round at minimum and probably top 20

This was definitely shade though. Albeit very subtle

“But from a talent standpoint, I mean, he’s awesome. I mean, if I was in the NFL, I’d be taking Tua because he’s a winner. He’s a very savvy, smart, instinctive player. He’s tough. He’s got a great heart. He’s gonna make everybody else around him better, and those are qualities that you want to have in a quarterback. So he’s got a great future, and he’ll heal up, get well, and he’ll make a great player for somebody.”

The video adds a little more context as you see Dabo pointing up in the air implying he'd take him number 1

This isn't me being anti Tua. It's me calling out Dabo. He's using this as a "we shut down the GOAT Tua last year" card.

Eventually he'll figure out talk is cheap and it all gets settled on the field

DABO SWINNEY: Yeah, you just do the best you can. I mean, that’s just kind of -- you get to this stage, that’s what -- last year we played Alabama, and I think Tua’s completion percentage or his yards per completion was higher, his yards per attempt was higher. He was a freak. And Tua is one of the best players I’ve ever seen, and when you get to this stage, that’s just what you’re going to see. When you get to the Super Bowl, you’re going to see two elite quarterbacks. It’s hard. It’s not easy. So, you just -- you’ve got to tighten up in everything that you do, and you have to understand that every play matters. You look at our game a couple weeks ago, there’s just maybe three plays, maybe three that we made, maybe three that they didn’t make, whatever.

Au contraire, I'm piling in . . . "last year we played Alabama, and I think Tua’s completion percentage ... was higher."

Tomorrow night will be interesting. IMO, all the talk of Venables' greatness, and all the whining by a 29-0 team will make quite an impression on LSU.

I understand saying nice things about Tua. He’s certainly talented, but if this year has shown anything, it’s that he’s more fragile than most QBs.

Yeah I get it. And I like the kid myself and think he'll probably make a good pro QB.

But this is clearly throwing shade and acting like Burrow is inferior IMO

It has a lot to do with the religious aspect as well with Tua being outwardly devout.

Dabo will openly support the Christian leaders.

Nothing wrong with that.

But, no one needs affirmation from Dabo on JB’s greatness. The history books have been and will set/keep the record straight.

I'm just trying to rile up the masses

And I definitely get why Dabo would have an affinity to say good things about Tua based on his faith. Have no ill toward either of them for that sentiment.

Not sure what Burrow's religious leanings are and don't care. But I do know he's a great leader as well. Basically every compliment that Dabo gave Tua could equally be applied to Joe Both great young men deserving of respect.

Maybe he means mentally.

He can't possibly mean physically, because we all know Tua's more fragile than a saltine.

Did Tua not have issues last year during the season with injury and even with the LSU game? Tua must have healed completely by the championship game with Clemson.

But to the op. I see it as a side ways diss of JB.
