Great move by the Cubs. Lange has struggled a ton in the minors

Not surprising. Gotta pound the zone in pro baseball and that's something Lange was never good at.

Are you saying that being traded is a consequence of poor performance?

eh, I wouldn't say "a ton." he struggled in A ball this year but then started pitching well once promoted to AA in June. In 7 starts since being promoted to AA, he's given up 2 or fewer runs in 5 of his starts, going 5+ IP in every start. In his first full season in A ball last year, he had a 3.74 ERA in 23 starts with a 1.18 WHIP. He basically struggled "a ton" for 2 months this year. The remainder of his time in the minors he's been pretty solid.

Since when? I mean he wasn't Nola with the strike zone but Lange was pretty fricking good at working it

Win, win for both organizations

Hopefully he develops to be a stud. Avila has a great track record developing talent.

His command was really solid his freshman year at LSU. You're right he regressed thereafter. I feel bad for him, but it is what is.

Nothing about baseball is "pounding the strike zone"...it's literally whether you can throw a quality strike when you have to OR can you throw a pitch with enough movement/deceptiveness to make a batter swing outside the strike zone. That's literally it for pitchers in regards to pounding the strike zone. Throwing BP fastballs just to get a strike is how pitchers only last 2 years in the minors
