This whole basketball mess has illuminated how bad “access journalism” has gotten in Baton Rouge. About everyone involved in covering LSU sports has carried water for this shite Administration, too afraid to say something that might jeopardize the scraps they lick off the floor.

The 180 by Moscona and Jordy completely reinforces your position. They were approached threatening their access was going to be cutoff. I think Jordy, moscona and Hanni said their peace and now have dug in for the long game and watch this thing blaze.

The Baton Rouge media is amateur hour and your’re dealing with an athletic department that is ran like amateurs. Two peas in a pod.

In the area I live, all I get is Lafayette sports radio, and though there are a couple of guys who are alright, most of them annoy me.
This guy on 103.7 yesterday morning, along with all of the guests he interviewed, were crapping all over Wade for making a statement "on the eve of the SEC Tourney", and how it was "causing further distraction".
To which I thought "sure, with everything going on, I'm CERTAIN the players are just aghast that Will Wade had the AUDACITY to stand up for himself, publicly".
The over the top, PC "protect the children" crap gets old. These aren't little babies. They can handle their coach speaking up for himself, and I doubt they had any problem with it. But, just to make Wade out to be a villain, we're supposed to pretend that he committed a cardinal sin.

I mean, to be honest, I don’t hate “the media” or think this is a result of PC — it literally just seems like local guys have whored themselves out in the name of access and stopped doing their jobs.

Well, in my opinion, the "access" part is directly linked to PC culture. Walking the line, and pretending that there are no gray areas. Relentlessly attacking people for saying or doing something that is remotely controversial, even if it's true/warranted. LSU wants Wade to fall on his sword and take his medicine, without considering his circumstances. And because the media is all about access and staying out of controversy, they bend to to this PC crap.
If these "journalists" and radio hosts had any integrity, they'd call things what they are, access be damned. Someone has to hold people like Alexander accountable, and make THEM bend to truth (a novel idea). But they are either too afraid, or they are like-minded with the public figures they're protecting.

No one will ever top the Picayune' s late Great Peter Finney. Only one that can match Finney would be Scooter Hobbs. His columns are gold. Cant wait to dive into his tomorrow.
