Not causing them. Some of you have no clue when it comes to arm injuries.

Most of the kids this year have been held out because of arm soreness to hopefully prevent an injury that would cause surgery. Personally I think after what happened with Walker last year CPM has decided to make every effort possible to not push a guy. In the past I think it’s been common practice to rest a kid a few days and then pitch them but with soreness after every outing. Now he wants it completely gone before he pushes them longer.

Criticizing CPM is certainly justified for a lot of things but this is him taking care of the kids future. It’s hard to do bc he could just keep running them out there.

Meh, i agree with you to a certain extent. I don't think the workouts and work loads on these pitchers is whats hurting them. However, i think a lot of this is mental. These kids don't know the difference between actually hurt and being sore. Big Ben said this himself. The pitcher feels soreness after a start and it turns into him being hurt. I put a lot of this on the training staff as well.

I’m not disagreeing with your thought necessarily but there is a long offseason that these kids are supposed to be going through training regimens that get their arms in shape to prevent this soreness. If they have unusual or extreme soreness after outings it sounds like they need a new training regimen.

I believe this usually falls on the pitching coach to come up with this schedule to help prevent these things. Obviously at times there is no preventing injuries but when a pattern develops there is a problem and you have to change something.

No, man, there is no training regimen that prevents this. Talk to guys who have pitched in college.

Chad Jones had so much pain when he pitched that he would often skip his midweek bullpen sessions. He also would not warm up before the games, because he was saving his arm for his actual appearances. Today he would be considered “injured”. Turns out, he needed Tommy John when he tried to comeback after the car wreck.

What does this even mean? His arm hurts so he tells the coach, the coach is taking preventative measures to not let this turn into something bigger. Do you just keep throwing a guy on a sore arm? He knows he's not hurt when the MRI comes back negative. If he throws again in a week and still feels sore than he needs more time than expected. It's unfortunate but it is what it is.

Yeah makes sense.

You know the best way not to get in a car wreck- just don’t drive a car.

Maybe, just maybe their arms are sore because throwing a baseball is a completely unnatural motion. If they’re waiting for them to throw and not be sore then they’re never gonna pitch.

Pretty dumb take since CPM himself said the players are keeping themselves out bc everything isn't "100% right".

Why recruit anyone with MLB potential if you are worried that playing them may hurt them? Recruit them, wrap them in bubble wrap and don’t let them leave their apartment.

If your theory is true (and I don’t think it is) then CPM definitely needs to go.

I think the number of arm injuries over the last 5 years suggest otherwise.

now compare the number of injuries suffered while playing at LSU to the national average and let us know what you find.
