To get the team up for the weekend series? This Missouri team is good. Taking them lightly will get our butts beat! They have an outstanding pitching staff! But most of all they are used to playing in the cold and it’s gonna be really damn cold up there this weekend! Hopefully our guys come out fired up because they’re gonna need it! Good pitching + cold weather....better wake up Tigers!!

Meh. Midweek game. You really want to know how much they don’t matter? Ask former players about midweek games. They don’t give a frick.

Midweek games don’t matter if you can win in conference.

If you can’t win in conference it doesn’t matter, your not gonna make it to Omaha anyways.

Just wait for it. There will be hundreds of threads about our bats being shite

Their pitching staff is pretty damn good, and it’s going to be cold

Yet they had a players only meeting after the last midweek loss...we as fans don’t care too much...but the players do!

They get up for the weekends, period. I wouldn't expect this will change their mindset much. Maybe they get a little angry that their inconsistencies at the plate kind of came to a head, in losing to a SWAC team, but I'm not sure about that either. They'll be up for the series, though.

Another guy started a thread last week after a big win saying this team has turned the corner.
Can’t judge this team by one game.
We have a big enough sample size and they are all over the board.
This team is bi polar or Jekyl/Hyde when it comes to hitting.
There’s a problem that should have been recognized and addressed.
Coaches are here to fix these problems. This is on them.

Lots of ranked teams lost to lesser teams last night. CPM teams always lose more midweek games then they should. Be glad we are getting healthier on the pitching staff. This team always have stretches of poor hitting bc of their poor approach at the plate. LSU is like the baseball school with the rich kids that have it all and feel like when they play the Southerns of the world they can just show up. If I was CPM I would tell them if you stink up midweek games you don’t start in conference. Period!

Nobody cares about midweek games. You can tell we obviously weren’t trying too hard to win that game.

That's beside the point. LSU should be able to field a B Team and easily beat Southern. PM's recruiting philosophy needs to change. Vanderbilt and Florida have more stringent admission requirements, and yet seemingly out recruit LSU.

Look man I’m just going based off a conversation I had with JC Holt. Maybe he was different.

With that said- I think it’s a bit silly to get worked up over a game where you didn’t have one of your starters pitch and your coming off a the 2nd top 10 series win in as many weeks.

We’re 8-4 in league play. Right on schedule.

^^^This right here. I usually don't get into the whole midweek argument or jump off a cliff after a midweek loss. What is scary or disheartening is that our "A" team looked that bad last night. Marceaux came into the season as a weekend starter. CPM didn't clear the bench and play a bunch of backups. With the exception of Cabrera, our everyday starters were in the game.

I can handle a midweek loss if we are throwing the bottom half of the bullpen or resting position players. But that isn't the case and really hasn't been the case all season.

Good point, they never lose midweek games and its all because of recruiting.

Will it still be scary to you if we go on the road and sweep Mizzou this weekend?

The game itself will be a mere footnote at the end of the season.

The only problem is when you are fighting to host a regional and trying to get a national seed, it doesn't help you there.

Win the west and the SEC will still be the barometer that gets LSU to where it wants to go.

As opposed to any of the other mid-week losses? Or because it's a loss to an in state lower tier school? Wait... that's happen already.

Honestly, I expect them to do just that. Like I said, I have never been part of the "Midweek Mob". This LSU team has shown the ability to play with anyone in the country. They've also shown the ability to go ice cold on midweek and weekend games.

Yes, I know I've just described almost every baseball team in America.

I have only been to one mid week game this season. I more or less quit going years ago, when I knew that while I was there I would either be bored, or pissed off. I just save the effort and don't even pay any mind to mid week games anymore.

You realize that was Marceaux & Costello’s first outing in weeks right?
Not saying they are bottom bullpen pitchers but they are both coming off injury

You play like you practice. Last night was a “practice” game. Draw your own conclusions.
