I am one of Lee's biggest supporters. I think he will be a great WR at LSU and in the NFL. I believe in his commitment to stay at WR.

But the Natty is on the line, and Lee could be a HUGE temporary help at a DB slot.

So... Could Devonta Lee Make a Deal With O (To Play Some DB) for this season Only? With a rock solid guarantee from the boss that he goes right back to WR in the Spring?

Not all that many HCs that I'd trust on a deal like that. But I would trust Coach Orgeron 100%.

Hope the very talented Mr Lee gives it some consideration.

I don't see how anyone who moves to safety after game 10 of the season can possibly make any impact at all this year. Seems like the move be more about the future than this year.

So the answer to your question is no.

He would have to learn the defense so i would say no it's not a good idea

I don't think DB is the problem. Lack of pass rush along with half speed All America run support safety are 1st priorities.

The guys that Coach O asked to go to defense and said no are all about me. Not the team. I have a feeling that Lee was one of those.

I think he would not have a problem handling a nickel package.

And he was more highly recruited as a DB than a WR. He is a freak athlete. He could play nickel in his sleep

They are forced to play Flott at Safety. Lee could be a huge help for the Natty run.

It's a bit ridiculous that DBU has to ask WRs to convert because of depth issues in the first place.

frick the blame-game. Again, they have Flott at Safety in some packages. Lee could help win the Natty.

Absolutely true. Guarantee you that Lee could be playing right now if he had agreed to be a team player earlier in the year. Instead, he'd rather sit on the sidelines waiting for something that may or may not happen with all the stud WR's around plus the ones coming in. Selfishness has manifested itself in different forms on this team this year.

bullshite.

Lee could have gone anywhere as a DB. LSU promised him a WR slot. THAT is why he committed to LSU.

Thus the question... Would Lee switch over for the next month and a half or so? With a guarantee he goes back to WR. He already knows that O keeps his promises (many HCs don't on position promises)

It’s pretty telling on how things have changed in “team” sports and society in general. There was a time when the only answer from a player would be “I’ll do whatever is best for the team”. The fact that there are a lot of people that can’t conceive of anything but a “me first” attitude is sad. There’s no stigma to selfish behavior at all, and very little reward for being a team guy.

Lee already declined.

Why are you ignoring that?

He declined to switch permanently. Doesn't rule out a temporary switch.

Too big for safety just like he is for WR. Who do you expect him to cover? They already have a 225 safety that has trouble with that.

Kirklin has at least played defense in a CFB game

He's fast. There's no such thing as "too big" if he's fast enough

And, of course he could cover. Why else would the Coach ask him to switch.

Dumb comment. Do better.

The DB and safeties already don't know the defense or else they would be playing damn good ball this whole season. So what is the difference? Only got 5 games left to focus and play your best game.

Bigger you are the stiffer you are the harder it is to turn & cover

He has some baby fat to lose to play S or WR. Otherwise he’ll grow into a LB
