Ro threw for what, like 520 in that game? It just seemed like they all went to Josh Reed.

You should put some video of him playing basketball at the rec…absolute beast.

We were at Zee Zee Gardens one night and Jimbo, Muschamp, D Dooley, and the Oline coach, can’t remember his name, were sitting at the table next to us. We got to talking and I asked if Webster was going to play O or D. Jimbo piped up and said WR if he has anything to do with it. Guess we know how that worked out for him….and Webster.

528, 35/44, 2 TD, 1 INT

That is Webster's only catch (30 yards). Reed, Clayton and Jerel Myers all had catches of over 30 yards. Reed's 19 catches (1 TD), 293 yards remains one of the most memorable individual game performances by a pre-2019 LSU Tiger, along with Faulk vs Houston. Clayton hauled in 7 for 126 which would be a relatively impressive performance if it wasn't overshadowed by Reed's program leading (until 2020) day. Those 2 receivers are still 2 of the Top 4 career yardage WRs (and 2 of the Top 4 in career receptions) at LSU and they account for 3 of LSU's 8 1000-yard receiving years (Reed has 2, Clayton, Chase, Jetts, Juice, Wendell Davis and OBJ all have 1).

What is sometimes lost in the shuffle is Ro's overall game against Bama in 2001. In Tuscaloosa, Rohan Davey delivered the best passing performance by an LSU (and, perhaps SEC) player not named Joe Burrow and, even with that, on a single-game, regular season basis, maybe still the best. Only 2 TDs, but it was over 500 yards and against Bama. Clearly Joe's game against Oklahoma, 7 TDs is certainly the best passing day ever by a Tiger. Joe's regular season bests against Ole Miss and Texas are comparable to Ro's Bama day, but that is saying something good about both of them, not trying to play down either.

TL;DR - it is rare for a WR to outshine a QB on a big passing day, but Reed has managed it somehow for over 20 years.

He was pretty highly regarded when he was here. It's just been a minute since he was here but he'll always have a place in history. National Champion, first team all american, 2x first team all SEC. Plus he won two SBs, was a pretty big part in the Giants first run in particular.

Brandon Taylor I think will be more forgotten over time due to lack of accolades, he has my underrated vote.

Lost in that 2001 game is how much Josh Reed fricked up in it. Two muffed punts and a fumble for a touchback on a 50 yard reception.

Webster intercepted Brett Favre’s last pass as a Packer in the 2007 NFC championship game.

Corey was a great basketball player in HS. Some thought he might play some hoops at LSU.

I was at that game in Bama! After every big completion, I stood up and yelled, "all night loooong!"
I'm very lucky I wasn't mobbed and beat to hell that night.
What a great victory and to see it in person.
And I was at the 2019 game too!
Life is good.

What is so amazing about that game is LSU should have easily scored 56-63
Points. They just flat out blew numerous drive that went inside the 10.

It all started and ended with…

Corey Webster,
Blue Gay,
Travis Daniels,
Laron Landry,
Chevis Jackson,
Jonathan Zenon,
Craig Steltz,
Chad Jones,
Patrick Paterson,
Tyrann Mathieu,
Mo Claiborne,
Tharold Simon,
Eric Reid,
Ron Brooks,
Brandon Taylor,
Tre White,
Jalen Mills,
Rashard Robinson
Dwayne Thomas,
Jalen Collins,
Donte Jackson,
Jamal Adams,
Kevin Tolliver II,
Greedy Williams,
Kristian Fulton,
Grant Delpit,
Kary Vincent,
Derek Stingley.

and not to mention LSU even has the goat list of DB transfers:

Phelon Jones
Saivion Smith
Kelvin Joseph
Eli Ricks

EDITED TO CORRECT… I don’t know why I was thinking Toliver II transferred, that was incorrect. He played at LSU for 3 years, went undrafted after foregoing his senior year, played 3 seasons in NFL.

Rashard Robinson was dismissed due to the antiquated marijuana rule, so he transferred to Bowen College where he just trained for NFL- he did not play there.

And of course Rohan dropped a fricking dime.

Young Jax loved Ro.

I think Demetrius Hookfin gets forgotten often, he had a great Senior year. Was definitely one of the top 3 corners in the SEC when he was a senior

He didn't. And Rashard Robinson didn't play anywhere else either.

Corey Webster? There was nothing underrated about him. He was the stud of the secondary and everyone in America knew it.

You want underrated it’s that kid - I can’t even remember his name - but everyone dogged the hell out of him. He played nickel for us, and went on to a very good NFL career with the Cowboys, I believe.

I believe you're talking about Danny McCray.
