He also won Ohio Mr. Football in December. Following in Joe Burrow’s shoes. The second link is the article for the Ohio Mr. Football and has an embedded Twitter video of one of his runs. Must watch.

This is why I love college football. The yearly addition of new players I can't wait to see play.

In that older article from last year:

quote:

Kiner reaffirmed his commitment to LSU on Wednesday, likening the situation to 2017, when he chose to attend Roger Bacon despite the program suffering six consecutive losing seasons.

"Me and the other recruits talk about it every day," Kiner explained. "Sometimes you win some and you lose some. It’s kind of the same situation that I had in picking a high school in Roger Bacon. We weren’t winning at the time but we changed the culture.”

He has a good mentality. That is huge during the times where it will get rough and tough during the season. Winners mindset.

ST. BERNARD, Ohio — Roger Bacon High School senior running back Corey Kiner was named Thursday morning as the Gatorade Ohio football player of the year.

"I'm happy that I can bring another award back to Cincinnati and back to Roger Bacon," Kiner told WCPO. "Just to show people that it doesn't matter what high school you go to; you can go and achieve your dreams anywhere."

Kiner, who is signed with Louisiana State University, is the first Gatorade state football player of the year from Roger Bacon.

The award recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, according to a news release.

"The Mr. Ohio obviously was big but with Gatorade you have a national company who comes in and gives a state award like this - it's another huge award for him," Roger Bacon coach Mike Blaut told WCPO.

"As his coach it's well deserved. He'll take it as 'Mr. Humble.' I've already sent congratulations to him. He handles it in stride like it's no big deal. And that's the best part about Corey is just how humble he is about everything. But, it's a great honor for him."

He rushed for 1,866 yards (13.8 yards per carry average) and 35 touchdowns his senior season. He returned kickoffs on special teams, including a touchdown.

Those are some impressive stats.

CSB I played a round of Call of Duty Warzone with this kid , his username is CoreyKiner and I recognized the name. It took me a minute because I only loosely follow recruiting but I have an LSU themed gamertag so he initiated the conversation. This kid was a class act and was asking questions, such as where to eat around Baton Rouge. He sounded ecstatic about the opportunity to come down here and play for the Tigers. That being said I’m rooting for him to do well.

An old Navy buddy of mine is from Ohio. Right between Cincinnati and the Kentucky state line. He swears up and down this kid will be starting by the end of his freshman year. Guess we'll have to see.

To be fair. He said Joe Burrow will be the greatest QB ever at LSU. Exact words....

Sounds like he’s got a lot of early recruiting experience as a middle schooler

Nah. Unless Emery powers up, TDP is the most likely to get the majority of rushes. Kiner won't get over 30 carries this year barring injuries to the starters.

I mean even if he’s at the bottom of the depth chart he could get 30 carries just in garbage time

TDP has been a stud for LSU since he stepped on campus.

Now Emory on the other hand better get his crap together this year or yes he is about to fall down the depth chart.
