Georgia Miami and USC are the only teams I would feel like we had a legitimate chance against right now. Ohio State is hot and cold so maybe if we caught them on an off day. The rest would be favored by at least a TD.

Based on what? Beating a bunch of teams that were bad enough to fire their coach this year?

Why do people insist on playing the transitive property game? That's not how this works.
Posted on 11/29/17 at 7:17 am to DaCajun1
Vegas would have us as dogs in every one of those games.

It’s just more people living in that SEC Bubble and not seeing that most of these teams are just as good or even better than the SEC

Absolutely. People need to understand how terrible the SEC is this year.

What people are finally waking up to realize is that every top team has weakness as well as strength. Yes, we could beat any one of them on any given day. And they could beat us. What this means is that we can absolutely contend next year, and could have legitimately contended this year. Once the team understands this, the possibility is right there, within reach.

Consider this... On every one of those team's message board they also have an ignorant poster who is looking at LSU and saying "We would smoke the team that lost to Troy at home."

1 Clemson 11-1 (Possible, lost to Syracuse, not the same team w/o D. Watson)
They kinda are. Their starter was hurt though that game.
quote:
2 Auburn 10-2 (Already beat)
Better team now
quote:
3 Oklahoma 11-1 (Possible, soft defense, our pass rush vs. Baker, Guice and Williams run all over 'em)
Oklahoma can score on anyone. TCU has a great defense and they gave up 38
quote:
5 Alabama 11-1 (no, but we did out gain them for change
Moral victories
quote:
6 Georgia 11-1 (Probable, Auburn destroyed, true freshman QB vs. our pass rush)
I’ll say sure.
quote:
7 Miami 10-1 (Probable, very suspect team, just lost to Pitt)
Pitt has beaten several number 2 teams lately. They aren’t great, but get up for big games. It was a classic trap game. Miami wins that 9/10
quote:
8 Ohio State 10-2 (push, no JT Barrett)
9 Penn State 10-2 (push, would love Guice vs Barkley)
Both teams aren’t that good. I’d say lsu could win.
quote:
10 USC 10-2 (Probable, blown out by Notre Dame, yes...ND)
Garbage overrated team. We’d stomp them.
I’d say we win 6

Dude... we would not beat but maybe two of those teams right now....
Posted on 11/29/17 at 9:11 am to DaCajun1
if it wasnt for that troy loss id say we would be around #9 maybe even #8
Posted on 11/29/17 at 9:13 am to DaCajun1
This is an exercise in futility, but, please, carry on...

I would argue they're just as good, if not better, at every position except QB. Their defensive line is the real deal.

We'd lose against everybody in the top 5, and 3 by at least double digits. If all games were on neutral field.
Tennessee QB Guarantano is a redshirt freshman that has only played significantly in about 7-8 games during the season, and arguably his 2nd best game was vs LSU. UGA's QB has a run game and decent OL, plus he's just a much better passer. They also have a good defense, giving up more than 19 points only twice, and giving up more than 14 only thrice. In every win but @Notre Dame, they have beaten their opponent by 2+ TDs. In 9 of 11 wins, they have beaten their opponents by at least 3 TDs. Their wins vs common opponents are way better than ours. They caught Auburn on the road when they were on fire. On neutral field they beat us by a TD
UGA 24
LSU 17
I don't consider them suspect at all. They were looking ahead to the conference championship game and Pitt is no pushover and has done this in the past (remember 4-7 PItt beat 10-1 WVU in 2007). Miami is probably one of, if not the, most balanced teams in the country. Their star RB went down a couple games into the season, and their backup became a star (see Fournette/Guice 2016). Their QB is only a step below elite putting up 2800 pass yards 25 TDs and 400 rush yards 5 TDs, in only 11 games. LSU QBs need two 12 game seasons to match that TD production. Statistically, their scoring defense is better than us, and they've played similar scoring offenses to LSU. Their offense is Alabama with a better passer, but their run game is nowhere near because they have lost their star rusher early. Still, on neutral field, I'd give them a 3 pt win
Miami 20
LSU 17
Glad you said, no Barrett, because with a healthy Barrett we'd lose by double digits. However, if we are talking bowl game, 4 weeks to rest, Barrett will play. Dobbins and Webber are two very good RBs, but we handled Bama, so IDK. Ohio State had a weird loss vs Iowa but I expected Oklahoma to get a win vs them early. They have a good defense, but they do give up a good amount of points vs good offenses. They can score in bunches, and that's what they'll have to do to beat LSU. Plus the Urban Meyer playing an SEC team factor can't be ignored. I have them winning by less than a TD if this game were played this weekend on a neutral field.
Ohio St 27
LSU 21
Penn St reminds me a bit of Ohio St, but they have a worse pass defense. O think their scoring defense is a bit inflated too, by who they have played. Barkley's rushing numbers are good, but if you look deeper you'll see he has had a similar problem running the ball like Guice has this year. He is ridiculously dangerous in the passing game though, as good as Joe Mixon was last year for Oklahoma. McSorley had improved greatly as a passer playing in his second year. He's the type of QB I hope Narcisse can become. He was really good last year, but a lot of his yardage last year came from behind and big jump ball plays. Honestly, this is a tough one because I think both teams will score on both defenses. Put me down for LSU losing by 3
Penn St 27
LSU 24
Yes we beat USC. We likely pick the ball off 3 times and Guice should have a good game. Their pass defense would literally be the worst one we play, outside of Chattanooga. LSU wins big on neutral field
LSU 38
USC 24
I'm probably just being a dick as I can see LSU beating Penn St and Miami, but if I'm betting...
