Baylor coach Scott Drew was a Tiger Tyke when his dad Homer Drew was an assistant to Dale Brown for about 5 years as they laid the foundation to the Fantastic Climb to the top. The tykes occasionally performed at halftime and were part of the early kids camps. Of course Homer went on to great success as head coach at Valparaiso.

Congrats to him and Baylor. Well deserved. That said, I like our chances with Coach Wade. Scott Drew would have been fricking hated and run out of town at LSU in 3 seasons. I say let's give Coach Wade some time to become as good as Scott Drew or even better. After all he is still the youngest SEC Coach by like 8 years.

Scott Drew was 101-106 as a head coach at age 38. Zero NCAA Tournaments, zero conference championships.

Will Wade at age 38 is 173-84. 4 NCAA tournaments excluding the 5th which was coronavirus. 1 SEC Championship. 1 A-10 Championship. 1 second round and Sweet 16 appearance.

To be fair, he took over a program that, among other things, had a player murder his teammate.

Oh no doubt. Murdered player or not, he wouldn't have gotten that patience here. I mean some are trying to run Will Wade off after back to back years of tournament wins and 3 straight top 3 SEC finishes.

The Rant would have drawn and quartered Drew numerous times during those 18 years. LSU fans do not have the patience that would have kept Drew around for 18 years, IMO.

Will Wade took over a program which had been murdered by TJ and JJ

You didn't learn the first time, so :

Scott Drew's first four seasons at Baylor:

2003–04 Baylor 8–21 3–13 11th
2004–05 Baylor 9–19 1–15 12th
2005–06 Baylor 4–13 4–12 12th
2006–07 Baylor 15–16 4–12 11th

Will Wade's first four seasons at LSU:

2017–18 LSU 18–15 8–10 T–9th NIT Second Round
2018–19 LSU 25–5 15–2 1st NCAA Division I Sweet Sixteen*
2019–20 LSU 21–10 12–6 T–2nd All postseason cancelled
2020–21 LSU 18–9 11–6 3rd NCAA Division I Second Round

Wade is 38. Scott has a good 10 years on him in age and has been at Baylor for 18 years. Will has been here for 4. 3 out of 4 he's led ncaa tournament caliber teams. His first year was a huge improvement (with an abysmal roster) over what we all know he inherited. It takes time to build a program.

I get the general point and agree with you but as bad as LSU'S situation was, there's no comparison to what Baylor has just been through. Might have been the worst job in the country at that time.
